Thursday, August 8-August 14, 2019 www.shelbyinfo.com 704/484-1047 - shelby shopper & info - Page 21 Veronét V i n e y a r d s and Winery announced that it is f i n a l i z i n g c o m p l e - t i o n o n its Estate v i n e y a r d s and winery p r o p e r t y with plans to open in late August or early September. The vineyard is located on 1549 Ike Brooks Dr., Kings Mountain. "This announcement is a culmination of years' worth of hard work and vision, and we cannot wait to share our stunning property with the world!" said Monique Sulli- van, Founder and Managing Partner of Veronét. "We are excited to offer not only delicious wines, but a variety of fun experiences from wine dinners to pairing classes that will provide peo- ple with opportunities to es- cape the day-to-day and get more in touch with all aspects of wine from grape-growing to winemaking," Sullivan contin- ued. "We have worked hard to create a retreat where anyone can relax, take in beautiful views, and enjoy themselves through a range of offerings that will include food, beer, and non-wine beverage op- tions as well." In addition to the stunning views of Crowders Mountain and Kings Mountain Pinnacle, the first vineyard and winery to come to Kings Mountain will also offer an electric car charging station, LED lighting throughout, drought tolerant landscaping and dry-farming practices for water conserva- tion and will eventually host walking and biking trails on the property. The 6,300 square-foot main winery building is accented by a wall of oversized glass doors that highlight the vineyard and mountain views, and features an expansive open floor-plan tasting room, a 28-foot main bar and 20-foot secondary bar, a private tasting room with floor to ceiling wine cellaring, and a 70-foot outdoor patio. Once open, the entire property will be available for weddings and event rentals; the property rental will include the main winery, outdoor patio, and large outdoor space which overlooks the vineyards. The vineyards, set with southern exposure and home to constant south-westerly winds, are planted on a gentle slope and accented by tower- ing pines, Crowders Mountain, and Kings Mountain Pinnacle. The nearly 5 acres of plant- ings are made up of Cabernet Franc, Viognier, and Cham- bourcin vines. The Sullivan family is excited to welcome their first estate harvest in the fall of 2020, and currently works to produce the health- iest vines while maintain- ing minimal impact on the land through a reduced use of chemicals and a variety of manual processes. "By using more environ- mentally friendly controls we know we are helping to protect our vineyard for future gener- ations," explained Sullivan. "You may see a few more weeds in our vineyard com- pared to others, but we feel that is a small price to pay to preserve the integrity of the land." The property and winery will initially be open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sun- days for guests to sample a se- lection of eight wines that the family sourced through vine- yard and winery partnerships throughout the United States, allowing them to focus on cul- tivating their first estate-pro- duced vintages in 2021. In addition to wine, the winery will host a rotating tap for local beers, a seasonal menu featuring charcuterie and cheese boards, and an array of non-alcoholic bever- ages including Pure Intentions Cold Brew coffee and Birch Fine Teas. The winery associ- ates will offer guided tastings, as well as vineyard tours when the weather permits. In depth tastings, special food pairing events, and group wine classes will be led by Sullivan, who holds Level 3 Certification in Wines from the London-base d Wine and Spirits Education Trust. The Tasting Room staff began work last Friday, all of whom were hired from Kings Mountain and nearby commu- nities. "It is important to us provide job opportunities for people from the surrounding area," Sullivan said. Veronét Vineyards and Winery is a privately held estate and winery located in Kings Mountain, North Caro- lina. Founded by four families and managed by the Sullivan family, a husband-and-wife executive team, the estate vineyards were planted in Spring 2018 and construction on the main winery building was completed in Summer 2019. Veronét Vineyards and Winery is a family-owned venture that is dedicated to sustainable farming practices and will be a convenient es- cape to enjoy beautiful scen- ery, delicious food and wines. "Even if you aren't a big fan of wine, we hope folks will come spend some time with us. We offer a variety of local craft beers, hot and cold teas, and allow outside food at the vineyard. We hope guests will spend an afternoon with us ejoying cheese board or picnic while taking-in the sce- nic views our vineyard offers," Veronét Vineyards and Winery plans to open August-September Gate to the entrance of Veronét Vineyards and Winery, which plans to open in late August or early September, 2019.
