The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, July 17, 2019 C-1 CHURCH Submit church items: Call: 812-354-8500 Email: news@pressdispatch.net or bring in a hard copy: 820 E. Poplar Street, Petersburg Where "rightly dividing the Word of truth" (IITim.2:15) is concerned, our spir- itual leaders are like a group of people, each one of whom holds a part or several parts of a jig-saw puzzle, but who fail to put them to- gether and so never get to see the picture. One sees clearly that the so-called "Great Commission" was a Kingdom commission and not ours. Another sees that the "one baptism" of Ephesians 4:5 must be the di- vine baptism which makes believers one in Christ. Another sees that Paul's apostleship was wholly distinct from that of the Twelve. Another sees that Romans 6:3,4 does not contain one drop of water. Another sees that the Christian's position is spiritual and heavenly in character. Another sees that the Body of Christ, the Church of today, was never prophesied — even, that it did not be- gin at Pentecost with Peter and the eleven, but later, with Paul. But while each sees some component part of "the Mystery", Satan has used tradition to blind him to the rest. The result is that confusion continues to prevail and they still have a puzzle instead of a picture. If only they would put the pieces together! What a clear picture they would see of "the Dispensation of the Grace of God", and how eagerly they would join us in "The preach- ing of Jesus Christ according to the revela- tion of the mystery" (Rom. 16:25)! Stam Continued on page 2 America the Beautiful Religious Viewpoint by Clyde Dupin I have traveled in 46 countries and ob- served a few things. There is no nation quite like America. It should be called "America The Beautiful." In America we have been blessed in many ways. We owe our exis- tence to God and the faith of our founding Fathers. As we celebrate Independence Day, we should count our blessings and re- flect on what is good about America. Don't listen to the socialist and liberal politicians. It is true we do live in a desperate hour in a dangerous world. There WAS a 9/11 that we must never forget. Thousands of our fin- est men and women are on foreign soil to keep us free and help others to experience freedom. I was in Russia an Easter Sunday after the fall of Communism. I was there when Alexander Solzhenitsyn addressed the na- tion on his return to what he calls his moth- erland. He said, "The suffering, poverty and shame of 70 years was brought to Rus- sia because she for- got her God. He told the American people that we have placed too much hope in po- litical and social re- forms and neglected our spiritual life. The Bible talks about nations that sin and how they need to repent and return to their faith and dependence on God. Today more than ever we need a spiritual revolu- tion in America. We need to return to our core values of family, honesty, moral values and a faith in the living God. The Bible tells us His mercy endures forever. We must not allow our sins to separate us from God. We must honor God in our homes, work and by worshiping Him. Well it's Sunday evening and time to write or should I say ramble on about all kinds of topics. Most people who know me know that I write about like I talk and that is on and on. First thing on my mind this week is that built in clock which keeps waking you up at the break of dawn because for years you had to get up and get ready for work. Your mind and body is yet set for the time to get up. My wife has no trouble sleeping in. When we are home I can always do some- thing to entertain myself, but it gets hard if you are staying overnight in someone else's home. I was looking for a document I needed from our file cabinet and ended up having to clean out many old papers only to not find what we were looking for. My wife found it the next day so all turned out good. It was a life insurance policy which I need- ed help with. Check your policies and see if they are still in force. We had ours long enough that we were close to it being out of funds. Don't be afraid to ask your agents to give you ad- vice about the coverage you have left. Our policy had accumulated some interest and they were using from our interest to help fund our premium and it was the interest that was running out. We ended up having little recourse except to redeem what we could. A couple of our old retiree friends set up a breakfast at Cakes and Coffee and man did they have a huge turn out with many friends I hadn't seen since I retired. Sure was good to hear some of the stories which were go- ing around. Many thanks to the guys who set this up because it was a great success.
