From this class you will learn fundamental information like standard fire orders, hazmat, rescue and extrication, etc My favorite is when the fire department is able to come, said Troy Souza, senior. Cal Fire and the Red Bluff Fire Department prove to be taking an interest in providing for the students. They bring in their fire apparatus and have students flow water, throw ladders, role hoses, learn hose lies and teach real life applications for it. The class is organized to simulate a fire line crew, with a commander, officers, and subordinates. With this, students become accustomed to communicating effectively with supervisors and working as a unit. In rank, under the instructor is the class commander. The commander oversees the entire class which is divided into two groups. Each group has its own class officer, and all orders are passed down that chain. The instructor, Mr. Johnson, Cal Fire and RBFD all enjoy working with the students. I like giving them the same opportunity that I had when I went through the program, said Mr. Johnson. When you join ROP Firefighting, you join a family of students cleaning, working, learning together as a team to face challenging situations. opens for all students Julia Liebert Staff Writer Tristen Madero, a nine year professional dancer, has recently decded to start a dance class. His inspiration is his best friend, Jackie Christine Hamill, because she keeps him thinking and pumped up. When Tristen performs he said, I feel an adrenaline rush that pushes me to the point of almost fainting. When asked about his worst dancing moment he mentioned that he was in a competition in Jersey and when he did a back flip, he landed on his head. He has not done a back flip since then. Madero teaches a variety of styles including: Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, and Acrobatic dances. If you do not know what on of the dances are that Madero teaches, you can go on YouTube and look them up. Some videos can be a little amateur, so you should look through more than just one. Madero hopes to do dance as his profession in the future. He would like to open up his own dance studio because he is good at it and it is what he wants to do for a living. Having this love and skill for dance is what most people would love to have. He also mentioned that he needs more people in his class, if this does not happen, his class will be cut. If you dont know if you want to join or not, just go and check it out, watch, and then decide if you want to do it or not. Ryan Gamboa (9) Hopefully playing baseball. Mikenna Corry(10) Winning the [soccer] playoffs. Daniel Venegas Jr. (11) Im going to Colorado. Stacey Soto(12) Hopefully Ill get something done for once in my entire senior year. Spartan Health Veronica Smith Staff Writer It is becoming normal all over America to wake up and go get an energy drink before heading to school or work. By doing this, we are abusing our bodies with these drinks just to feel awake for a few hours. On just about every corner of every street you will find a place that will sell a variety of energy drinks therefore they arent very hard to find which is one reason why we all take advantage of these drinks. Studies show that these caffeine filled drinks are worse than we really think. The Top 3 energy drinks sold in 2012 are Red Bull with $2.95 billion, Monster with $2.6 billion, and Rockstar with $780 million. Yes, these products promise us many things, but theres so much that we dont know. For instance, some doctors would say that energy drinks can be worse than alcohol due to the addiction of the caffeine and the other ingredients (creatine, b-vitamins, taurine, sucrose, etc.). The number of emergencyroom visits due to energy drinks has doubled in four years being 10,000 in 2007 to 20,000 in 2011. Another way many people are using energy drinks is to help their athletic performance and even weight loss because they have less sugar than sodas and coffees do. Yet after you get that rush of energy, you most likely will crash. There are many side effects that come along after your rush such as, stomach aches, headaches, dehydration, and if you overdose you can receive heart damage which can contribute into injury or death. So although Red Bulls may give you wings, is theoretically getting wings really worth it? Maybe it is during those few hours you have that energy but after having one every day your body is so used to that caffeine that it doesnt even receive that energy. Mr. Null (Teacher) I will be attending a conference to better understand the relevance of how to aply lyrical phrases to common erry day situations. Mrs. Coker (Teacher) I will be packing for Austria. Sound Off/Ashlan Brunello
