She was born on July 27, 1922, to Thomas and Ellen Corten in Pike County. For many years, she owned the Rumbletown Grocery Store. She is survived by her sons, Jack (Susie) Brenton and Gene (Betty Marie) Brenton; grandchildren, Jeff Brenton, Will Teague, Rachel Doades, Jennifer Maddox, Stephanie Bren- ton, Kyle Brenton and Beth Brenton; great-grandchil- dren, Chase and Bailey Brenton, Ivy and Max Bren- ton, Trace Fulk, Micah and Damion Young, Ethan and Abbie Doades, and Quinlan and Eibhlin Teague. LINDA SUE CARTER Linda Sue Carter, 76, of Francisco, passed away Sun- day, December 23, 2018, at her home. She was born September 22, 1942, in Portland, Ky., to the late Wallace Allen and Mary Marie ( Wilcox- en) Parsons. She had resided in Fran- cisco for the past 23 years, after living in the Princeton and Pike County areas. She was a coal miner, retiring in 2002 from Kindall Mine, and had formerly worked for four years for AMA X mining in Keensburg, Ill., from 1974- 1978. She was a member of UMWA Local No. 5179. She had also been a beau- tician and retired from that in 2014. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, David Eugene Carter, whom she married December 7, 1995; two children, Annette (Hold- er) Dalton, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Veryl "Chip" (Lisa) Holder, of Otwell; five step- children, Sherry ( James) McCoy, of Vincennes, Lin- da (Cliff ) Ingram, of Princ- eton, Scott (Michelle) Car- ter, of Francisco, Eric (Rob- in) Carter, of Princeton, and Jenny ( J. D.) White, of Pato- ka; a sister, Barbara Fisher, of Kentucky; 16 grandchil- dren; and six great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, Jeanette Gar- rison and Jack Parsons. Engleman, DDS, 87, of Mooresville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 20, 2018, at Demaree Crossing, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 3, 1931, in Washington, to the late Andrew T. and Lota E. (Gray) Engleman. He grew up in Peters- burg, where he excelled in academics and athletics. He starred on the basketball and baseball teams while at Petersburg. He proud- ly served his country state- side in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In October of 1957, he met the love of his life, Jacqueline Stidham, on a blind date and quickly knew she was the one with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. Subse- quently, they married on January 30, 1958. Later that year, he graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He went on to ob- tain his degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Texas Med- ical Branch in Galveston, Texas. A fterwards, he and his partner, Kurt Strempel, practiced oral surgery to- gether on the south side of Indianapolis until retiring in 1994. He was an active mem- ber of the Southport Pres- byterian Church in India- napolis, and First Presbyte- rian Church in Haines City, Fla., where he taught Sun- day School, went on several mission trips and men's re- treats. He was also active in several professional associ- ations, including the Amer- ican Dental Association, the Indiana University School of Dentistry and the Interna- tional Congress of Oral Im- plantology. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing for more than 20 years in his retire- ment at the Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort in Flori- da. He is survived by his lov- ing wife of 61 years, Jacque- line (Stidham) Engleman; son, Dr. Eric ( Janet) Engle- man; daughters, Dr. Erin (Dr. Matthew)Wittrig, Pas- tor Eden (Dr. David) Pfoten- hauer and Elana Engleman; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Colleen Burton; brother-in-law, Robert Bur- ton; and a niece, Karen Hale. KEITH MANNING Keith Manning, 55, of Pe- tersburg, passed away Sun- day, December 23, 2018, in Washington. He was born November 3, 1963, in Owensboro, Ky. He was an Operating En- gineer for IUOE Local 181 in Evansville. He was a mem- ber of the Petersburg Moose Lodge and Petersburg VFW. He had been the Pike Cen- tral girls' basketball coach for 10 years. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the St. Louis Cardinals and Dal- las Cowboys. He is survived by his mother, Pansy (French) Manning, of Evansville; daughter, Chelsea Potts, of Petersburg; son, Nicholas Manning, of Petersburg; three grandchildren, Kaid- en Young, Bowen Potts and Daxen Potts; sisters, Deb- ra (Brett) Doerner, of Spur- geon, and Vickie (Rick) Hutchinson, of Somerville; two brothers, Steve (Kathy) Manning, of Boonville, and Wayne (Leslie) Manning, of Petersburg; former wife, La- na Manning; 15 nieces and nephews; and 21 great-niec- es and great-nephews. BERNARD "BERNIE" WISEMAN Bernard "Bernie" Wise- man, 84, of Otwell, passed away on December 23, 2018, in Petersburg. He was born on August 24, 1934, in Otwell, to Ber- nard and Lynetta Wiseman. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a self-employed farmer for much of his life. He is survived by his sons, Terry L. Johnson, 58, of Washington, received the best present by spend- ing Christmas with Jesus on Tuesday December 25, 2018, at I.U. Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. He was born on March 8, 1960, in Seymour, Ind., one of 10 children to George Washington and Eliza (No- ble) Johnson. He had lived in Washing- ton for the past 19 years, moving there from Bedford. He was the Minister for the Washington Church of the Nazarene for the past 19 years. He was an avid Ken- tucky Wildcats fan and a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He enjoyed college football, fishing and traveling to the Smokey Mountains as often as he could, with hopes of seeing a bear. He is survived by his wife, Renee Johnson, of Washington; son, Rev. She worked at Potter and Brumfield, then at Faultless Castor in Evansville until re- tirement. She was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton, a life member of the VFW Auxil- iary, and a 50 -year member of the Golden Fleece Chap- ter #176 Order of the East- ern Star. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Collins, 99, of Ha- zleton, passed away Wednes- day, December 26, 2018, at the Gibson General Hospi- tal SNF in Princeton. She was born July 27, 1919, in Gibson County, to Scott and Bertha (Dunn) Collins. She was a lifelong resi- dent of Gibson County. She retired in 2001 from North Gibson School Corp., where she had worked at Low- ell School, after 23 years. She also worked for the Green Thumb. She joined the Hazleton General Bap- tist Church 1951 and was baptized in the White Riv- er down by the old Town Hall in July of 1951. She lat- er became a member of the Hazleton United Methodist Church. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Grace McDaniels and Lula Crecelius; and three broth- ers, Otis, Doris and David Collins. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan- uary 2, 2019, at Hazleton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Sam Polito and Evelyn Owens officiating. CARL EDWARD PROCTOR Carl Edward Proctor, 82, of Petersburg, passed away on December 25, 2018. He was born on July 11, 1936, to Thomas and Lo- la Mae Proctor in Hender- son, Ky. He was known as a jokester and loved to make everyone laugh. He was a PFC in the Marine Corps before working as a coal miner. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with cars and watching NASCAR. He was a family man and loved his grandkids very much. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon Proc- tor; his daughters, Mari Goble and Patricia (Steve) Schmitt; four grandchil- dren; one step-grandson; and his siblings, Ruby ( Jim) Nemier and Kenneth (Linda) Proctor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Lee Proctor; and his sister-in-law, Lou Proctor. He was born November 5, 1930, in Gibson County to Purley and Opal Hunt. He graduated from Mt Olympus High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Hunt Well Ser- vice until his retirement. He married his wife, Jane Car- olyn (Harvey) Hunt, on De- cember 14, 1951. He is survived by his son, Larry (Candy) Hunt, of Ha- zelton; daughters, Nancy Sapp, of Milton, Fla., Peggy (Allan) Brenton-Goepfrich, of Jasper, Phyllis (Kevin) Ar- nold, of Winslow, and Mel- anie (Amy) Hunt, of Evans- ville; grandchildren, Clint, Brian and Katelyn Mickow, Jeff and Beth Brenton, Demi Arnold Schmitt, Joshua and Jordan Hunt, Jana Freder- ick, Julie Robling, and Isa- iah, Hunter, Josiah, Rose, Jax and Dallas Thaxton; and 11 great-grandchildren. Green, 57, of Oakland City, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born August 22, 1961, in Princeton, to Ronald L. and Darlene M. (Holder) Doerner. She married Ronald "Ron" Green on August 14, 1992, in Kentucky, and they were blessed with 26 years togeth- er. She was a homemaker and took loving care of her fam- ily. She was extremely ac- tive at Somerville Wesleyan Church, where she also vol- unteered her time with their school. At church, she loved singing together with her family by her side and en- joyed drawing pictures for Bible School. She was very fond of art and had a good steady drawing hand.
