Jasper man arrested on OVWI charge Saturday By Andy Heuring A report of unauthorized control of a vehicle led to a Jasper man being arrest- ed for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Colt D. Eckert, 23, of Ar- linton St., Jasper was ar- rested Saturday afternoon near Otwell. Pike County Sheriff's Sgt. Dallas Killian said he received a report that Jayd Durcholz was driving her mother's vehicle and was unauthorized to do so. Killian said he saw Dur- cholz, as a passenger in a different car, drive by so he followed the car until it pulled into a driveway and parked. Sgt. Killian said both Durcholz and Eckert got out of the vehicle and when he identified him- self, Eckert started reach- ing into his pockets and walking toward the near- by house. Sgt. Kilian said Dur- cholz told him she knew police would be looking for her mother's car. She hand- ed Sgt. Killian the keys and said it was at an apartment complex in Jasper. Killian said he could smell the odor of marijua- na while he talked to Eck- ert and Durcholz. Eckert didn't have a driv- er's license on him, but said it was in Durcholz's purse. She was unable to find the license. Sgt. Killian said when he asked Eckert if he was under the influence of anything, he said he had smoked marijuana about 12 hours earlier. Eckert failed field so- briety tests. He refused a chemical test and was tak- en to the Pike County Jail, where he was preliminari- ly charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, with a prior conviction in the last five years. Sgt. Killian said he found Eckert was previ- ously convicted on Feb. 10, 2016 for OV WI. By Andy Heuring A 38 -year-old former Miss Pike County and a 23-year- old Evansville man were ar- rested on meth and other drug-related charges after police served a search war- rant at 3:35 a.m. and found three juveniles there, and the upstairs filled with mar- ijuana smoke. Kimberly K. Aydelott aka Miller, 38, of 1012 E. CR900S., Oakland City, was charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury, a level 5 felo- ny; two counts of contribut- ing to the delinquency of a minor; neglect of a depend- ent; possession of metham- phetamine and maintaining a common nuisance, con- trolled substances. Kade Martindale, 23, of 5798 Calle Las Colinas St., Evansville was charged with obstruction of justice, a level 6 felony, possession of mar- ijuana and visiting a com- mon nuisance - controlled substances. Pike County Deputy Sheriff Jason McKinney in his report stated he ob- tained a search warrant for Aydelott's residence. Dep- uty McKinney, Sgt. Dallas Killian and Deputies Buck Seger and Paul Collier went to the residence to serve the warrant. When they ar- rived, McKinney said he saw a white male later identified as Martindale standing in the residence look out the kitchen, turn and run away from the window. According to police, Aydelott answered the door. They then located Martin- dale coming down steps from the upstairs bedroom. McKinney's report said Martindale had a strong odor of marijuana. They then located two male juveniles and one fe- male juvenile in the upstairs as well as a child sleeping. "There was a very strong smell of burnt marijuana coming from the entire up- stairs and a smoky haze that filled the entire upstairs. It also stated all three juve- niles smelled of marijuana and had bloodshot eyes. McKinney in his report said when he asked Aydelott if she wanted to be honest with him and tell him about anything illegal in the resi- dence, she said "she would never have anything illegal in her home with her kids there." She then asked if that had anything do with a boy who had left her residence get- ting pulled over earlier. She eventually asked to speak to a lawyer. McKinney's report listed the items police found in the search as: in Aydelott's bed- room: a homemade smoking device with burnt residue, a glass mirror with a white residue, a pill identified as Cetirizine hydrochloride, a straw with white residue in it, a glass smoking pipe with burnt residue, two corner plastic bags with a crystal- like substance weight just less than five grams, a mar- ijuana roach, an candy con- tainer with a white crystal- like substance in it, a green leafy nugget that field-test- ed positive for marijuana and five pills identified as Diazepam. Found in the basement were: a glass mirror with a white powdery substance that had been cut into 'snort' lines and a white pill on it identified as cetirizine hy- drochloride, a propane torch, a homemade smok- ing device and a dollar bill rolled up with a white pow- dery substance on it. Found in the upstairs bed- room were a plastic bag of a green plant-like material, a pill bottle containing green plant material and a cigar box with several small plas- tic bags in it. Aydelott and Martindale were taken into custody. The juveniles were turned over to their parents or guardi- ans.
