C-2 Church Wednesday, Januar y 2, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued in next column Continued from page 1 This week PAWS is fea- turing two five-month-old kittens named Teddy and Tippy Toes, who have had a rough start in life. They were found living in a drain- age pipe on a cold day in No- vember. An individual be- gan putting food out dai- ly for the kittens until they were finally tame enough to catch. Tippy Toes had a badly in- jured tail that was hanging on by a mere tendon and has since had her tail amputat- ed, but now has a cute little bobtail. She is a bit shy, but loves to be held and petted. Teddy is very gregarious and loves attention. Both have loud purr motors. They are currently in a fos- ter home but are awaiting a forever family. They are both fixed and have all their shots, and they would prefer being inside cats. They can be adopted by calling 812- 354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the TEDDY & TIPPY TOES Baptist Continued on page 3 with business meeting to follow. Thought for the week: "He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new! ' Then he said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustwor- thy and true"' (Revelation 21:5). Be in prayer for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Franklin St. Oakland City 812-677-2508 Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Prophecy The future holds great fascination for so many, and I've often wondered why, as God has given us so much to do today. We are to take no thought for tomorrow, and our life is but a vapor, here one moment, gone the next. While it is important to prepare and plan ahead, we can't live in the future and forget what is happen- ing now. I love prophecy as much as anyone, but I've still got work to do. We see through a glass very darkly for a reason, so that we can't interfere with God's perfect plan ahead. He has every detail concerning everything worked out per- fectly for our benefit, that we might enjoy the peace of to- day. Perhaps some are so inter- ested in future events, that they may hope to escape the torment they face today. The Bible declares in Psalms 68:20 "and unto God the Lord belong the issues from death." My concern for the future should be, am I ready to meet Christ? Here are some things con- cerning future events that will surly come to pass: • The return of Jesus, I will meet Him in the air. • Peace on earth for a thousand years. • His government set up in perfection. • A new heaven and a new earth prepared. • This earth and the works therein, burned up with fervent heat. • The White Throne Judgement. • The reading of the names in the Book of Life. There are Prophets in this world, make no mis- take. But they are few and far between. God has giv- en us guidelines concern- ing real and false prophets, and they should be studied closely. Our prayer today is that all who read and hear the Perfect Word of God, would receive it and be ready for this prophecy, which will certainly come to pass. God Bless You. Mark Davis, Pastor sus [the law of our new be- ing] has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its pow- er] being weakened by the flesh [man's nature with- out the Holy Spirit], God did: He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin. And He condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it in the person of His own Son], so that the [righteous and just] requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not live our lives in the ways of the flesh [guid- ed by worldliness and our sinful nature], but [live our lives] in the ways of the Spirit [guided by His pow- er]. For those who are liv- ing according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh [which gratify the body], but those who are living according to the Spir- it, [set their minds on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose]" (Romans 8:1- 5 AMP).
