She was presented a gift basket by Marge Leavitt of Marge's Hallmark, that included merchandise and gift certificates from participating Petersburg merchants, worth more than $250. The Holly Walk event included several downtown ac- tivities, including carriage rides, visits with Santa, sto- ry time and more. JOAN CURRY Joan Curry, 83, of Peters- burg, passed away at 10 :15 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018, at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg. She was born on Decem- ber 2, 1935, in Pike County, to Ursul and Dorothy Alice (Hatt) Cockerham. She married Robert E. Curry on August 22, 1956, and was a secretary at Day Oil Company. She was also a member of the First Church of God in Petersburg. She is survived by her husband, Robert Curry, of Petersburg; nieces, Kim- berly Bolin and Alicia Phil- lips; nephews, Rex Cock- erham, Keith Cockerham and Brian Cockerham; nine great-nieces; two great- nephews; and one great- great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be at 1:15 p.m. on Satur- day, December 15, 2018, at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, with Rev. Don Fausnaugh officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Harris Funer- al Home. See additional obituaries on page C-7. Obituaries Three arrested on drunken driving charges last week By Andy Heuring Three people were arrest- ed for drunken driving last week in Pike County. A Loogootee man was ar- rested at about 2 a.m. Sun- day after police stopped him for having a tail light out. Billy J. Wathen, 56, of 209 Boston St., Loogootee was stopped by Pike Coun- ty Deputy Sheriff Buck Seger on Highway 57 near the Pike-Daviess line after Seger noticed Wathen's car had a tail light out. Seger said when he be- gan following Wathen he saw Wathen go left of center and then drift across the fog line. When Wathen crossed the center line again, Dep- uty Seger said he stopped him. Seger said when he talked with Wathen he noticed the odor of alcohol, poor hand coordination and slurred speech. He failed field sobri- ety tests. Wathen admitted to having two beers while shopping in Evansville, ac- cording to Seger's report. Wathen was taken to the Daviess Community Hos- pital for a chemical screen. He tested positive for opi- ates and TCA. He was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (controlled sub- stance). A Winslow woman was ar- rested late Friday night after she was stopped for driving left of center. April D Hartley, 38, of 301 S. Oak St., Winslow was ar- rested by Petersburg Police Cpl. Jared Simmons. Cpl. Simmons said he no- ticed a blue Saturn car driv- ing south on Highway 61 near McCoy St. in Peters- burg, cross the centerline twice and the fog line three times before he stopped her near PC 1-Stop in Campbell- town. He said while talking with Hartley she told him there was something wrong with the car that made it hard to drive. He also said he no- ticed her speech was slurred and she had poor manual dexterity. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Daviess Community Hospi- tal where she tested positive for amphetamines and THC, a chemical in marijuana. She was transported to the Pike County Jail, where she was preliminar- ily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A Petersburg man was ar- rested last Tuesday, Decem- ber 4 after police stopped him for not having a license plate light. Trent A. Stone, 48, of Pe- tersburg was arrested by Indiana State Trooper C. J. Boeckman at about 7:30 p.m. Trooper Boeckman said when he activated his emer- gency lights Stone pulled in- to his driveway and stopped. Stone failed field sobri- ety tests and was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he tested 0.116 percent for blood alcohol content. The legal limit in Indiana is 0.08 percent. Stone was preliminari- ly charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Carriage rides are a staple of the Holly Walk.
