The Press-Dispatch Local Wednesday, December 12, 2018 B- 7 50th Wedding Anniversary Mike and Barbara Mor- row, of Cato, will be cele- brating their 50th wedding anniversary on December 24. They were married in Evansville on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1968. The couple has two daughters, Tracey Welch and Stacey Sanders, both of Oakland City, and two grandsons. 50th Wedding Anniversary The children of Leo and Ann (Meyer) Oxley an- nounce their parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Leo and Ann were married on December 21, 1968, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, by Pastor H. E. Bruns. They have been blessed with four children, Becky (Tim) Carlisle, Lane ( Vikki) Oxley, Linc Oxley and Carrie (Chad) Guillaume, and six grand- children, Charlotte and No- ah Roberts, Avery Carlisle, L. J. and Levi Oxley, and Cody Guillaume. Leo has retired from teaching in S.W. Dubois County Schools, and Ann has retired from teaching in Pike County Schools. Leo and Ann now enjoy producing maple syrup, beekeeping, gardening (especially growing big pumpkins), and spending time with friends. They al- so cherish time spent with family at sporting events and on trips. They like to inspire their grandchildren to design and invent, and have "project" days when great ideas are nurtured. There will be an Open House Celebration at the Lockhart Township Com- munity Center (Stendal Gym) on December 21 from 6 -9 p.m. EST. With This Ring... Alpha Delta Chapter chose to support Travis Burkhart Foundation, enjoys Christmas reception By Joan Weathers The Alpha Delta Chap- ter of Alpha Epsilon State, Delta Kappa Gamma So- ciety International met at the Iron Kettle in Plainville on December 4. Hostesses were Candy Lemon, Pam Cardinal, and the Wash- ington teachers and retir- ees. Members enjoyed a Christmas wassail recep- tion followed by a delicious meal in the beautifully dec- orated banquet room. Each Christmas sea- son the hostesses choose a charity to support. This year the committee chose to make donations to the Travis Burkhart Founda- tion. Candy Lemon intro- duced the speakers for the evening. Mike Bur- khart gave an overview of the Foundation and its pur- poses. The Foundation is a non-profit organization whose objective is to help those in difficult situations where insurance leaves off. Kim Burkhart gave exam- ples of recipients and how the Foundation has helped people in a five-county ar- ea. Jennifer Hadlock, Board President, explained how funding is acquired by the Foundation. Also attend- ing the meeting were Tra- vis and Jenae Burkhart who added an even more person- al touch to the presentation. Several members received gift bags with Travis Bur- khart Foundation t-shirts in them. Members were de- lighted with the inspiration- al presentation. Co-President Laura Craney conducted the busi- ness meeting. The state convention will be in Law- renceburg, Ind., on April 26, 2019. Singers are being sought for a chorus at the convention. Ronetta Bough, Spanish teacher at North Daviess, will be hosting a teacher from Brazil for two weeks in February in conjunction with the Global Learning Advisory Council. Christmas ornaments were exchanged while the Christmas story was read in a game conducted by Maria Killion. Poinsettia door prizes were won by Julie Parr and Sue Gray. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at M&M Catering in Wash- ington. The individuals invited to perform in the parade are part of a select group of ninth to twelfth grade cheer- leaders who attended a Var- sity Spirit summer camp this summer hosted by Na- tional Cheerleaders Associa- tion (NCA). Abigail received the honor of being named All-American Cheerleader, landing her a position in this year's parade. She performed in an ex- clusive pre-parade perfor- mance through Disney's Magic Kingdom Park be- fore hundreds of fans. Be- sides enjoying a sunny trip to Orlando, performers had the opportunity to meet cheerleaders and dancers from across the nation and enjoy a magical holiday sea- son at Walt Disney World ® Resort parks.
