"We showed some good de- fense in the second half, and that was on the pressure of the full-court press," Knight said. "The girls enjoy play- ing that style and have been working hard at practice and getting better each game at it." In the seventh grade con- test, Hailee Dupps and Jillian Page scored 10 points each to lead Wood Memorial to a 24- 11 victory over Pike Central. Dupps scored eight points during the first half as the La- dy Trojans took a 10 -9 half- time lead, while Jillian Page scored eight points in the sec- ond half – including six in the fourth period – as the Lady Trojans outscored Pike Cen- tral 14-2. Brailey Mills scored six points and grabbed a team- high 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Chargers, who slipped to 5 -3 with the loss. Wren Kabrick added three points and a game-high four steals while Kelby Leighty netted two points. For the game, Pike Cen- tral made five of 39 field goal attempts – a 12.8 percent av- erage – and hit one of seven tries from the free throw line while turning the ball over 17 times. Abby Gates, who grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, and Josie Page added two points each for the Lady Tro- jans. For the game, Wood Me- morial made 11 of 35 field goal attempts – a 31.4 per- cent average – and was 2-for-2 from the free throw line while turning the ball over 21 times.
