"He can play inside. He's got a really nice shot now. He's still working on his ball han- dling a little bit but he puts in a lot of time and I think he's just going to keep get- ting better." Jaden Guth "He's another that's in here a lot, puts a lot of time in," Elliott said of Guth, a 5 -foot-10 forward who will also split time between var- sity and junior varsity. "He can really shoot the ball. He might be one of the best shooters we have. He just kind of has a natural knack for scoring. He's another one that we're just trying to get as many minutes as we can, and just keep developing them. I think he's going to continue to grow, get a little taller, get a little more athlet- ic. He's going to really blos- som into a nice player." Beginning the season on the junior varsity – along with Craig, Gorby, Guth and Whann – are juniors Coleman Henson and Jer- sey Mills, sophomores Ad- en Brown, Sean Hanselman, Stephen Krieg, Hunter Tray- lor and Connor Young and freshman Alex Clark. Beginning the season on the "C" team are Clark, Hen- son and Young along with sophomores Aden Brown, Hunter Traylor and Trent Zimmerman and freshmen Ashton Evans and Shane Morson. The varsity assistant coach will be Jacob West- ern, the junior varsity coach will be Josh Roach and the "C" team coach will be Joe Chamberlain. Keevon Ow- ens, Hannah Beane and Em- ily Dorsey will serve as stu- dent-managers. Connor Tru- itt will serve as video coor- dinator. Elliott said that while he thought that this year's re- turning players may have been overshadowed by their predecessors, he felt that they also benefitted from that experience – which in- cludes back-to-back section- al titles in 2016 and 2017 – as well. "This is their year, and we've talked about how we've built kind of a foun- dation of winning, and how they're used to winning," Elliott said. "Now it's kind of setting that culture of, 'What are we going to be about? '" "I think it's a very hard- working group, a very dis- ciplined group, and a very scrappy group," Elliott add- ed. "I think we're going to really get on some teams' nerves. I don't think it's go- ing to be fun to play us. And I think we can have a lot of success." However, Elliott declined to set a goal as far as the number of wins he'd like for the Chargers to have this season. "I don't ever think it's good to put a number on any- thing," Elliott said. "We'd like to win more than we lose, for sure. But as far as bringing that effort and in- tensity, I feel like if we do all those things, the wins kind of take care of themselves." "But we're not going to shy away from what we'd like to happen," Elliott continued. "They've experienced that sectional. They've climbed that ladder and cut the nets. We've said that's our big goal. So it's always building toward that, toward the end of the year. So long as we're getting better and working toward that each day, I think we're on the right path." Elliott expects his team to only get better as the season progresses. "With this group not hav- ing a lot of varsity experi- ence, they're just going to get better as the year goes," Elliott said. "I've been very pleased. I think we're just going to keep getting bet- ter each and every day." JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL BOYS' C TEAM BASKETBALL BOYS'
