We do have a point of in- terest! Jerry and Rosella Hill found Arvle Wade recently. He is fine, but he had been in the hospital and now is waiting to get an MRI. Arv- le misses everyone in the Winslow area, and if you would like to send him a card or note, you can send it to : Arvle Wade, Transcendent Health, PO Box 369, Owens- ville, IN 47665. The Winslow Patoka Riv- er is less than half full with only a couple nights of driz- zling rain we had. The temps were bearable with the win- dows opened, and the nights were a bit chilly for last week. Then the weekend came with humidity and 90s temps. It was so nice to have an 80s week and really nice to sleep in the 60s temps. Now sum- mer is back again with carry- ing a wet rag around with me to try to cool off. Friday, July 27, Norm and I drove over to Dee Warner's house where she had a tree that fell in her yard, so we cut it up for more wood to keep us cozy in the winter. We are still in the process of getting the clean up done, and wet grass doesn't help out when you have to get a truck on- to the lawn. We are happy to help out a neighbor. Wayne Gish has had sur- gery. While recovering, he stayed with his sisters, but Wayne had several stars help him at the house with feed- ing Tripp the dog, mowing his yard and picking up the mail, among other things. Wayne is sure pleased to have stars in the neighbor- hood to help. The Brownstown part of Winslow has lost another neighbor, Robert and Kar- en McDonald, who have moved to Evansville. We wish them well in their new place, but we will miss seeing their smil- ing faces in this area of town. They both have lived in Brownstown all their lives, and we have seen their sons and grandchildren grow up in this area also. Robert and Karen, we miss you both, but times do change and we wish them well in their new home. Our truck was in need of a new grill and headlights, and last week we, or should I say Norm, found both of these items. We had to travel back- roads to get them and see if those were what we needed, and they were. Friday, we met Larry in Francisco for the headlights and put them on when we got home, but it took until Saturday night to see our lights in all their bright glory. Sunday we trav- eled to Stendal to see Josh, who had the grill we needed. When we got back home, we took out the tools and put it on. Then on Thursday, an- other grill was given, and it had the turn signal outfit that was needed also, so now the front has a brand new look, which changes the whole ap- pearance. There is no more silver tape and wires. To all who had our parts for this truck, we are so very happy to have met you, and thanks for having the needed parts. On the way back from Stendal, just out of town, we stopped to let a small buck of four points cross the road and just looked at us until we left that area. We saw our friends Tim and Jeanette, and they were out of electric. One day they were the only ones on that line that had broken up the road. The 4-H fair in Pike Coun- ty was heard to be, as sever- al remembered, so crowded like when they used to go to the fair as a kid. The parking spread throughout the park. Some met at McDonalds to eat, and then got into one car to head to the park. The events were bigger like the Demo Derby had 33 cars this year, which was the first time ever. The rodeo was a big hit, the Pike Co. Got Talent has two girls that will compete at the Indiana State Fair. We wish them well and congrats. The 4-H is in need of vol- unteers here in the Winslow area to be leaders in helping out our children to learn new and old things that our chil- dren may want to do in the 4-H groups in Pike County. Their next enrollment starts on October 15 to January 15, and if you want to help out, contact the Pike Co. 4-H lead- ers like Becky Steinhart or Judy Gumbel. Remember- Lip Sync the Oldies! There needs to be at least three groups com- peting, and each group must have at least three people. Contact 812-789 -2366 for rules and details. Time is running out. September 15 is the date to remember at the Winslow Community Festi- val. Get your group together and have fun as you Lip Sync the Oldies. September 15 is also the Light up Winslow Parade. Do you have your item to light up and put in the 13th year of fun? It's going to be here sooner than we think, so light it up and we will see you all September 15 at dark with all the lights. It's time to dim the lights on this week's ramblings, but keep an eye on family and friends, slow down and see all the wonders in your neck of the woods. School starts, so that means to watch out for stopped school buses and mostly the kids. As I always say, smile, wave and say Hi to everyone you see this week.
