Pastors Mark and Sandy Davis welcome you to come and help us take back and restore the broken people and reach out in our area for souls to be saved and families lives to be changed. Hope to see you in church! Mark Davis, Pastor Greg Davis, Asst. Pastor and Music Director Religious viewpoint The Christian home By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Josh. 24:15). There is no place in all this world so wholesome and refreshing as a Christian home, a home where Christ is truly loved and honored. This writer was brought up in such a home. There were ten of us: dad, mother and eight children. There was lots going on all the time, but a truly happy home it was, for dad and mother never let us get so busy with temporal things that we brushed eternal values aside. On the basis that "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God" (Luke 4:4), we read some small portion of the Bible before every meal, and had family devotions before retiring at night. Result: all eight children have blessed the dear dad and mother who led them aright, morally and spiritually, and best of all, taught them the importance of trusting in the Savior who died for all our sins. More: five of the children and many of the grandchildren have given themselves for full time Christian service, and have become pastors, college deans, Christian writers and missionaries in various parts of the world. This is not because we are one whit better than others, but because we have experienced the help and grace of God in our lives. And it all began as, one day, a young American, like Joshua of old, came to a decision and declared: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." "Christmas, a symbol of Hope" By Clyde Dupin Christmas is still the symbol for peace and hope. The message of Christmas does not change. Christ came into this world with a purpose. That purpose is the redemption of all mankind. Christ is still the light of the world that has been darkened by hate, greed, corrupt politicians and terrorism. Recently we have seen Israel, the land of his birth, under attack by radical Muslims. All Christians are taught in the Bible to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. With many out of work, older people fearful of Obama care and corrupt political leaders, many fear for the future. Our culture is rapidly changing. Nativity sets are forbidden in many places. We feel the darkness of evil in public life. The forces of secular media, education and politics would like to rob this generation of some of our most sacred and joyful occasions like Christmas. The Christmas message was, "fear not." We must keep our faith in Christ and never let our culture destroy Christmas. We must reclaim this wonderful day, Christmas. Let us pray for peace in our world and make known the one who can give peace to everyone who seeks him. Christmas is a religious holiday that is often held hostage by materialism and greed. Long after our children are adults they will forget many gifts but never your teachings about the true meaning of Christmas. Even in a pluralistic society we must keep Christ at the center and never let the atheContinued on page 4 River Of Life Fellowship 342 E. CR 300 N.
