EMPLOYMENT 22A PERSONAL INJURY PR OB ATE LITIG ATION PERSONAL INJURY L EG AL ADV E R T I S ING SEC T IO N Michael P. Balaban Robert T. Eglet Robert C. Graham LAW PROFILES Donald C. Kudler Michael P. Balaban has handled la- bor and employment cases for most- ly employees since 1997. During that time Michael has rep- resented numerous clients in cases involving discrimination or other employment related claims, includ- ing cases brought under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, for wrongful termination, for whistle blowing, for wages and hours dis- putes and for employment benefits. Michael believes his "hands on style" and preparedness is the key to the success he has achieved for his cli- ents over the years. Labor and Em- ployment law is a very specialized and ever changing area of the law and it is crucial for an attorney to be well versed in this area of the law in order to achieve success for the cli- ent. Employees need to be comfortable with their attorney and know that that attorney will "go to bat" for them whether it is against a small "mom and pop" organization or the biggest companies in the state. Michael is licensed to practice law in both Nevada and California and is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Nevada, all state courts in California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He earned his B.A. degree at the Uni- versity of Texas at Austin and his J.D. degree at Western State University School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the State Bar of California, the Nevada Justice As- sociation, the American Association for Justice and the Clark County Bar Association. Having won more than a billion dol- lars in judgments and settlements in the past ten years alone, in early 2012, the National Trial Lawyers Association recognized Robert Eglet as one of the 100 Most Influential Trial Lawyers in America. In 2010, he was honored as "National Lawyer of the Year," and is the only lawyer in Nevada honored as Trial Law- yer of the Year twice; 2005 and 2012. Robert won the largest personal injury verdict in America in 2010, $505 mil- lion; 4th largest in 2011, $183 million; and 38th largest in 2007, $42 million. He is the only lawyer to win a Top 5 Verdict in America in two consecutive years, and three Top 40 Verdicts in America within the past five years. Robert has obtained the three larg- est personal injury verdicts, and more multi-million dollar verdicts than any Nevada lawyer. He is certified by the American Board of Trial Advocates and is the only attorney in Nevada to be honored as one of the "500 Lead- ing Lawyers in America" for four con- secutive years. In 2004, Robert received the "Bad- ger Award," the Nevada Justice As- sociation's most honored award. Rob- ert has the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell (AV) and is included in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. A past president of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, Robert currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Trial Lawyers Association, the President's Club for the American Association for Justice, the National Advisory Board for the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America (APITLA), and is APITLA's Regional Director of Litigation for Ne- vada, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. Robert specializes in personal injury and wrongful death caused by defec- tive products and drugs, commercial trucking accidents, and insurance bad faith. He is licensed in Nevada State and Federal Courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Law Offices of Michael P. What was once a part-time sub-specialty within the larger specialty of Estate Planning has now grown into a full- time and fulfilling career. Originally from Arizona, Graham moved to Las Vegas in the late 80's as he finished law school at Brigham Young University ('92). His wife, who is also an attorney, was a year behind him ('93), so his first year as an at- torney was spent living alone in an empty apartment while he worked twelve hours a day at Jimmerson, Da- vis & Santoro. "Jim Jimmerson, Nick Santoro and Lynn Hanson were my mentors, and I will always be grateful for the time they spent training me for the court- room," Graham continued. "Looking back, that was a powerful bunch of lit- igators under one roof and I was just at the right place at the right time." Graham ultimately left the firm and branched out into his desired spe- cialty of Probate and Estate Litigation, and later came to include guardian- ship disputes. He is now the Manag- ing partner of LawyersWest Limited, a Nevada-based, regional probate, trust and estate litigation law firm having staffed offices in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. • Education: J. Reuben Clark School • of Law, BYU (1992) Co-curricular Activity: Chairman, Trial Advocacy Board, J.
