This is the 10th consecutive year Northwestern Mutual has been included in the top 100, ranking 36th among large com- panies (5,000 or more employees), the com- pany announced. Northwestern Mutual was the only Wisconsin-based employer to make the list of 100. "The Best Places to Work in IT recogni- tion reflects the importance Northwestern Mutual places on investing in digital tech- nologies, our technology professionals and our digital workplace," said Karl Gouverneur, Northwestern Mutual vice president and chief technology officer, in a statement. Northwestern Mutual looks for highly qualified IT professionals from diverse backgrounds who welcome challenges, embrace teamwork, and are excited about innovation and new technologies, Gouverneur said. Since 1994, Computerworld's annual Best Places to Work in IT feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on bene- fits, career development, training and retention. Children's Hospital to join in neuroscience initiative MILWAUKEE — Children's Hospital of Wisconsin announced Monday that it was selected to participate in the 15-site Alliance for Strong Families and Communities neuroscience initiative. It's the only pediatric hospital in the United States and Canada to be selected. "Change in Mind: Apply Neuroscience to Revitalize Communities" is a three-year initiative of the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Norlien Foundation. "The ultimate goal of the initiative is to better align health care and social systems with established brain science to deter- mine if research on the effects of stress on the brain can be used to transform policies that address some of the most difficult social issues facing our communities," according to the announcement. www.chw.org www.alliance1.org Largest Mariano's in Chicagoland opens MILWAUKEE — The largest Roundy's- operated Mariano's opened Tuesday in Glenview, Ill. The 32nd location for Mariano's will bring about 500 jobs to the area, according to an announcement. Located at 2323 Capital Drive, the new store is about 90,000 square feet. The store will debut the first Vero coffee with on-site roasted coffee beans available for purchase. "We have designed a store unlike any other, offering something for everyone," said Bob Mariano, chairman, president and CEO of Roundy's, in a statement. "If you're hosting a party and looking for something unique to serve, meeting friends for a cup of Vero coffee or a homemade gelato or need to shop for your family dinner, you're going to find what you need here." Mariano's Glenview West will also debut Mariano's Signature Curation Center, which is designed to showcase artisanal products from around the globe. www.roundys.com Badger Mutual Insurance announces promotions MILWAUKEE — On Monday, Badger Mutual Insurance announced the promo- tions of three employees: Laura Michna to assistant vice president of administration, Anna Bruders to assistant to the president, and Colleen Costello to applications sys- tems analyst. Michna joined Badger Mutual Insurance in 1988 and has held numerous positions including assistant to the president. She works with community-based organiza- tions and regulatory agencies and provides general administration to the company. Bruders joined BMI as a personal lines underwriter and now provides technical assis- tance to the president and leadership to all staff members in goal achievement. Costello joined BMI in 2011 as an intern, and after graduation accept- ed a position in the information technology department. She reviews, analyzes, and modifies program- ming systems for the company. With headquarters in Milwaukee, Badger Mutual Insurance has been provid- ing a range of personal and commercial insurance products for more than 125 years. www.badgermutual.com Wisconsin Energy completes acquisition of Integrys MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin Energy Corp. announced Monday that it has com- pleted the acquisition of Integrys Energy to form the WEC Energy Group. The new company will provide electric- ity and natural gas to 4.4 million customers across four states via its brands — We Energies, Wisconsin Public Service, Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas, Michigan Gas Utilities and Minnesota Energy Resources. WEC Energy Group is the eighth largest natural gas distribution company in the country and one of the 15 largest investor- owned utility systems in the United States. Major operating headquarters will be in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Chicago. WEC Energy Group, a component of the S&P 500, has nearly $29 billion of assets, 9,300 employees and approximately 60,000 stockholders of record, according to the company. www.wisconsinenergy.com Kate spade new york to open in spring at Mayfair Mall WAUWATOSA — Mayfair Mall announced Monday that a kate spade new york location will open in the mall in spring 2016. Founded in 2011 in Milwaukee, P3 Development Group provides professional expertise in planning, program design, program development, training, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation. According to the announcement, the partnership was spearheaded through a Wisconsin Department of Transportation initiative. The 192,000 square foot stores in Grafton and Kenosha have created nearly 600 jobs and are the first in the state to carry the retailer's offerings that include fresh, high- quality produce and groceries, general merchandise, and full-service pharmacies. Meijer now operates 219 stores in six states and employs more than 65,000 team members throughout the Midwest. www.meijer.com Frentzel Products relocates business from Milwaukee MILWAUKEE — Frentzel Products recently purchased a 26,000-square-foot building at W227-N6370 Sussex Road in Sussex from CJSM, LLC. Jim Young of DTZ Barry represented CJSM, LLC in the transaction. Pete Slezak and Kurt Van Dyke of DTZ Barry repre- sented Frentzel Products.
