BUSINESS July 3, 2015 • Milwaukee County Post •7 MILWAUKEE — All but three of the 11 indexes analyzed by Marquette University for the Institue of Supply Management Report on Manufacturing declined or stayed the same in June. The seasonally adjusted pur- chasing managers index was in negative ter- ritory for the third month in a row for south- eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The seasonally adjusted PMI for June was 46.55, compared to 47.7 in May and 48.08 in April. If the PMI is below the 50 level that indicates manufacturing is in negative terri- tory. The index has been positive for 13 of the 18 months since January 2014. If the index score is above 50, it indicates growth in mar- ket conditions, while below 50 indicates decline. New orders increased 0.8 percent in June compared to May, while production increased 1.5 percent during the same period, however the report says new orders and production are moving in a declining direction with new orders having a PMI of 44.96 in June and pro- duction at 44.19 PMI. Other areas that saw a decline were employment at 3.9 percent and inventories at 4.8 percent. Imports declined 6.3 percentage points from May to June, although it remains at 50 PMI. According to the ISM Report, respondents said production and orders from customers have been increasing. The respondents also reported that there have not been many major issues recently. Freight rates are increasing due to driver shortages and scrap metal prices are low, according to the responses. "We've been working with Wisconsin farmers for over 40 years," said Steve Jarzombek, vice president of produce for Roundy's, in a statement. "Being a Wisconsin company, we understand the importance of providing our customers with the highest quality crops and deliver- ing a Wisconsin farm-fresh experience our customers truly appreciate." According to the company, through its relationships with farmers and partnership with the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative, Pick 'n Save works with more than 100 local farmers. The new Wisconsin Proud Campaign started with commercials showcasing Wisconsin products and shoppers. In addi- tion, the campaign includes in-store signage with a focus on local produce. Pick 'n Save has converted 10 stores to be in line with the new campaign and will con- tinue the conversion process in its Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin area stores through August.
