MILWAUKEE — Even road construction will take a holiday this weekend. Construction on most major highway projects across the state — including the Zoo Interchange — will be suspended for the Fourth of July weekend to accom- modate heavy holiday traf- fic. But motorists may still encounter narrow and shift- ed lanes, which require reduced speeds in work zones, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Don Greuel of the WisDOT Project Services Section said most construc- tion and repairs in work zones will cease by around noon Friday before resum- ing Monday. "Peak travel times are expected to be between approximately noon and 8 p.m. on Friday and Sunday," Greuel said in a statement. "Traffic will be heavy throughout the holiday period, so driving through work zones will require patience and caution. To prevent crashes, drivers need to slow down, pay attention and not follow other vehicles too closely when approaching and trav- eling through work zones. "Rear-end collisions caused primarily by speed- ing, distracted driving and tailgating are the most fre- quent type of crash in work zones." Last year, one person died in a traffic crash in Wisconsin during the Fourth of July holiday peri- od, which ran from Thursday, July 3, through Sunday, July 6. In addition to the Zoo Interchange, other signifi- cant highway construction projects that may affect hol- iday travel include recon- struction of Interstate 794 east of the Marquette Interchange and work on the I-94 north-south corri- dor, which is reduced to two lanes at the Highway 20 interchange in Racine County. "To help prevent need- less deaths and injuries from traffic crashes," WisDOT Director of Transportation Safety David Pabst said in a state- ment, "the Wisconsin State Patrol and other law enforcement agencies will be out in force during the holiday weekend to crack down on speeding, tailgat- ing, distracted driving, unbuckled drivers and pas- sengers, as well as drunken driving." — Conley News Service 2 • Milwaukee County Post • July 3, 2015 Road construction halted on July 4th weekend Volume 21, issue number 27 The Milwaukee Post (ISSN 1544-1776) is published weekly by Conley Media, Milwaukee County 3397 South Howell Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53207 For all departments call: 414-744-6370 News display and advertising FAX: 414-744-6884 Classifieds: 800-762-6219 ext. 5005 Classified Fax: 262-334-6252 For display advertising inquires: Daryl Skaradzinski: General Manager - ext. 13 dskaradzinski@conleynet.com For editorial questions: Dan Muckelbauer Editor 262-513-2626 dmuck@conleynet.com POSTMASTER: Send address changes to the Milwaukee Post 3397 S. Michelle Boho, 31, was charged June 23 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with burglary while arming herself with a dan- gerous weapon. She faces up to 15 years in prison, if convicted. A criminal complaint said a man returned to his Claas Road home between the wedding ceremony for his daughter and the reception to check on things. That was because he'd given Boho $1,500 in recent weeks, including $400 for a dress to attend the function, but she failed to show up for the wedding or the rehearsal dinner, the complaint said. The man came home to find a rifle, loose coins and currency, rings and medication missing. Boho's cellphone was in the home, which hadn't been there when he left, the complaint said. The man told police he'd taken in Boho in May, after meeting her through mutual friends, despite knowing she was a felon as he wanted to help her. The jewelry was found at a West Allis pawn shop, the complaint said. — Post Staff Complaint: Woman invited to wedding burglarized home instead Mon.-Thurs. 7:30-7:00p.m.; Fri. 7:30-7:30; Sat. 7:30-5:30; Sun. 7:30-4:00 4640 W.
