Specifically, Old World repli- cates 19th-century immi- grant life with its working farms of various ethnic per- suasions; its churches, shops and single-room school; its smithy, shoemaker and other tradesmen. Monthly "base ball" games are played in summer according to rubrics long since amended — like the requirement that players politely address umpires as "sir." The June 15-July 31 period offers visi- tors the opportunity to live in "The World of Little House" (think Laura Ingalls Wilder), with activities changing day by day. Old World's Heirloom Gardens feature flowers, vegetables and herbs. Old Falls Village, N96- W15791 County Line Road (southwest corner of Pilgrim Road and Highway Q), Menomonee Falls, 262-250-3901, www.oldfallsvillage.com Since construction work is being done on Pilgrim Road, prospective Old Falls Village visitors are advised to go online for the best directions to the "living history muse- um" depicting life during the last half of the 19th cen- tury and opening portion of the 20th. A 2015 highlight at the Village, which is situated in a 17-acre park, will be the July 18-19 Civil War Encampment and Battle Reenactment (to be supple- mented by an ice cream social). In the Village are the 157-year-old Miller-Davidson House — a National Register of Historic Places entry — as well as a railroad depot, a dairy and other historic structures. MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Board overrode a veto by a 14-4 vote to adopt the S.E.E.D. pro- gram, which stands for Sowing, Empowering, and Eliminating Deserts of Food. Through the S.E.E.D. pro- gram, Milwaukee County will partner with the Hun- ger Task Force, Growing Power, and University of W i s c o n s i n - E x t e n s i o n . The event organ- izer will provide each team with a steersman to direct the boat using a 10-foot oar from the stern. Proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House.
