Division 2 One small town, one crazy coach: Story of 1963 Ireland Spuds Ed Cahill The Press-Dispatch (Petersburg) Comments: No comments given. See Page 25 for story. Division 3 End of an era: Franklin Electric in Bluffton Mark Miller The News-Banner (Bluffton) Comments: A good, deep dive into the impact of a business on a small town. Could have been tightened, and could have included more historical setting to better tie the town's devel- opment with the company's. See Page 34 for story. Division 4 Who's going to take care of Paul? Martha Rasche The Herald (Jasper) Comments: In a category that was filled with quality entries, this easily rose to the top in my opinion. Normally, I'm not a fan of stories of this length, but the way the story was broken up kept my interest through the entire piece. The Herald delved into mental illness in a very humane fashion. Qual- ity photographs also helped the overall package. Excellent work! See Page 43 for story. Division 5 Waiting to exhale Staff Journal & Courier (Lafayette) Comments: Very thorough coverage of a longstanding issue in this college town – and college towns throughout the coun- try. The "flood the zone" approach pays off. See Page 49 for story. Story finalists
