Page 36 Best Spot News Photo/Category 15 First place Muffler Aaron Piper The Tribune (Seymour) Comments: Great shot – way to wait until the officer is under the muffler. If he were just spraying the paint in the photo, it'd be perfect. The way you isolated him and the wreckage is very well-done. Nice job. Second place Wreck 14 West Mike Kenny The Rochester Sentinel Comments: This is a great frame that grows on me the more I look at it. The layered storytelling going on here shows that you're putting a lot of thought into your shots in a hectic situation. FYI, the colors are a bit funky. Was it submitted in CMYK? Third place Windy Fire Mike Kenny The Rochester Sentinel Comments: Way to get back and capture that firework going off! I love that the stream of water from the bucket truck is so well lit. The colors and light make this one of the prettiest structure fire photos I've seen in a long time. Best General News Photo/Category 16 First place Science Aaron Piper The Tribune (Seymour) Comments: Great reactions. This photo could be improved by a tighter crop and possibly a slightly lower camera angle. Second place Pinewood Derby Michael Caterina Princeton Daily Clarion Comments: Great expressions and nice framing. Wish the view of the finish area was not partially blocked. Third place Fireworks Kelly Lynch The Commercial Review (Portland) Comments: Most fireworks photos are of just the fireworks. This one has an additional layer of visual information the better helps tell the story of the event. Best Sports Feature Photo/Category 17 First place Touchdown Michael Caterina Princeton Daily Clarion Comments: No comments given.
