Page 30 Best Business Section or Pages/ Category 27 First place Business Ben Skirvin & Staff Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: The center packages – writing, design and photography – are the strength of this section. The stories are well-chosen, providing both interesting reads and good information on growing economic sectors in your community. Second place Local Business Staff The Corydon Democrat Comments: The Local Business section lacked a strong cen- terpiece, but its numerous stories did provide a cross-section of content about business events and developments in the community. Third place No award given. Best Special Section/Category 28 First place Discover Perry County Staff Perry County News (Tell City) Comments: There were many visitor/COC directories submit- ted, but the clear resource full of reader and visitor info was this one. Second place Backyard Adventures 2014 Staff The Press-Dispatch (Petersburg) Comments: We really liked the main events and Quick Trips creative double truck. What a great way to appeal to readers who are unfamiliar with what the two counties have to offer. Third place Pink Purpose Staff Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: Nice and pleasing creative layout. Vivid behind- the-scenes stories with positive educational focus. Best Community Service/Category 29 First place Under Pressure: Water series Sara Clifford, Kevin Lilly & Ben Skirvin Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: Excellent success story. Second place The Stellar debate Sara Clifford Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: Great watchdog effort! Third place Triple the taxes? Ben Skirvin Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: No comments given. Best Newspaper Design/Category 30 First place Staff Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: By far, the best of the group. This paper has per- sonality and not afraid to take risks. Design, type and color is about conveying the message. Second place Staff The Corydon Democrat Comments: Good use of dominant photos and modular layout. Third place Vince Luecke Perry County News (Tell City) Comments: Loved the way they treated a big story. Would have helped to have a fact box. Remember to think modular layout throughout. Don't change colors or fonts unless it's to specifically help the reader. Division 2
