Page 28 Best Feature Photo/Category 19 First place Hoo are you? Kate Wehlann The Salem Democrat Comments: A good feature photo can stand on its own with- out a story. The expression on the girl, the girl in the center, although slightly out of focus and the owl are all distinct and stand on their own providing enough to look at. It's the expression of the girl that makes it. Second place Terrill Sara Clifford Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: This could have been first. I just don't think it stands on its own without a story, something I think a feature photo needs to do. Third place Helper Alan Stewart The Corydon Democrat Comments: Nice composition including a foreground center of interest and a background that completes the scene. Best Multiple Picture Group/Category 20 First place Fair Megan O'Bryan, Kevin Lilly & Sara Clifford Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: No comments given. Second place Harlem Wizards Ed Cahill The Press-Dispatch (Petersburg) Comments: No comments given. Third place Graduation Ben Skirvin Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: No comments given. Best Still Photo Story with Audio or Video Story/Category 21 First place 80-year-old Jim Beanblossom rides again Alan Stewart The Corydon Democrat Comments: Nice story, well-told and not too long. Second place Operation NASTIER drug bust Alan Stewart The Corydon Democrat Comments: Good cut-aways to break up spokesperson's commentary. Third place East Washington Four-Star Celebration Megan Coombs The Salem Leader Comments: Nice feeling to a day of celebration for a school's rating. Division 2 Piper Hubbard, 7, watches a 10-week-old owl that tagged along with Amazon John for his Silly Safari at the Washington County Fair Kids' Day. Brown County's 2013 Fair Queen Jeanette Bube laughs as 2012 Fair Queen Danielle Ryan straightens her crown for her.
