Best General News Photo/Category 16 First place Damage Kyle Lewis The Times-Post (Pendleton) Comments: Kudos for shooting from a different angle. This image tells me everything I need to know. Damage at the fire house. Second place Grandma Richard Tretter Spencer County Leader (Dale) Comments: I like the expressions in this image a lot. The only thing, for me, that holds it back is she is looking at the camera. I try to avoid that in images for a paper. But, that's just me. Third place Soul mate Kyle Lewis The Times-Post (Pendleton) Comments: This gets picked simply because these are dif- ficult pictures to take. Again, a slightly different angle, getting low, as opposed to shooting down on the lady. Best Sports Feature Photo/Category 17 First place Record Dorian McDaniel Hendricks County Flyer (Avon) Comments: Probably the best photo of all I judged in ALL categories. Why? Anticipation of the moment, being in posi- tion for it to happen and it paid off. And, not shot from the "normal" position, looking down on the swimmer. I feel like I am there. That's what a good image does for the viewer. Takes them there. Second place Champs Dorian McDaniel Hendricks County Flyer (Avon) Comments: The obligatory celebration shot done well. Wide enough to see the whole scene. Plenty to look at here. Third place Cheer Liz Allen The Times-Post (Pendleton) Comments: Nice feature photo with good expressions. I'm sure the team loved it. Best Sports Action Photo/Category 18 First place Thin Dorian McDaniel Hendricks County Flyer (Avon) Comments: No comments given. Second place First down Andy Heuring South Gibson Star-Times (Fort Branch) Comments: No comments given. Third place Slide Jeff Brown Hendricks County Flyer (Avon) Comments: No comments given.
