St. Rd. 61 Winslow 812-582-0354 Sunday morning worship at 10 :30 a.m. We are practicing social distancing and wearing of masks. Business meeting the third Sunday of the month, follow- ing morning worship. "He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can com- fort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us" (II Corin- thians 1:4, NLT). We all go through times of mourning. Maybe you've lost a big piece of your life, a job, a friendship, a loved one. Ec- clesiastes tells us, "There is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." In our brief time on Earth, there are times we need God's comfort and peace more than the air we breathe. One day, God will use your suffering and grief to bring encouragement to others. We should be so thankful that in times of sorrow, he offers us comfort. Thank you, Lord. We invite you to worship with us at any of our services. State Rd 57 Oakland City Service starts at 10 :30 a.m., with Sunday school preceding the service at 9:30 a.m. Just wanted to share a re- minder that after missing last Wednesday, this Wednesday we return to our regular ac- tivities. The adult Bible study and children's activities be- gin at 6 p.m., which is preced- ed by a meal at 5:30 p.m. The study this week will conclude our look into Sarah as one of the 12 extraordinary women in the Bible. Sunday, we will continue our series reflecting upon Ec- clesiastes. A study of Ecclesi- astes follows Solomon and his quest to find true meaning and purpose. Many people strug- gle though life without mean- ing and purpose. Thus, many resort to wealth, material pos- sessions, career and more to define their life and purpose. However, God does not define you by these things. We invite you to join us each Sunday at 10 :30 a.m. (CST) as we discuss finding pur- pose and meaning in life. Or, if you cannot make it on Sun- day morning, we encourage you to listen to the recorded message on our website, www. crossroadsoc.org. The Community Baby shower is not only taking form, but is getting really close; it will occur on Satur- day, January 30, from 9 a.m. to noon (CST). The baby show- er is ideally helping expectant mothers, or mothers of babies from newborn to two years of age. We're excited about this community outreach event to help people in our communi- ty. Why? Because we love Je- sus and love people. And, we would be so blessed for you to join us at the baby shower and on a Sunday morning as we worship our Lord. Mission Statement New Beginnings: What would Jesus do? We will strive to be more like Jesus in all that we do. Joseph Roman, Pastor Clara Walls, Reporter MT. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH 6100 S. Augusta Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m.; children's Sun- day school during the morn- ing worship; youth Cross Fit Sunday at 6 p.m. Due to COVID-19, we are still prac- ticing social distancing. "Before they call, I will an- swer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear" (Isaiah 65:24). Why was prayer so import- ant to men who were spiritu- al giants of the past like John Wesley, John Knox and Martin Luther? Because they knew they were up against almost overwhelming forces of the spiritual opposition. They also knew the urgency of the Gos- pel message, and that prayer was an essential weapon in advancing the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Like Paul, they knew that the "weapons of our welfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds" (II Corin- thians 10 :4). Is our situation any different today? God desires that we Chris- tians be concerned and bur- dened for a lost world. If we pray this kind of prayer, an era of peace may come to the world and wickedness may be turned back. "The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much" ( James 5:16). If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your pres- ence will be deeply appreciat- ed and you will leave being blessed. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. CHURCH 600 E. Next meeting February 3. Social distancing is still in place and until further notice, there will be no children's church or Sunday night fel- lowship. Thought for the week: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will up- hold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10). Be in prayer for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love, because everyone is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. Gary Watson, Pastor Nyles Head, Assoc. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister ing and many around us do not even notice. This week we look at a habit for this year called Kiss the Wave. Popular- ized by Charles Spurgeon, kiss the wave, means embracing the trials that we go through when they cast us against the rock of ages. When a trial forc- es us to rely on the one who knows the end of time, we can rest assured that even in the worst of trials he is still walk- ing with us. James also tells us that when we face trials of ma- ny kind, it will produce in in us perseverance, and perse- verance will produce maturi- ty, and when we have maturi- ty in Christ, we will lack noth- ing ( James 1:2-4). I also consider the 23 Psalm, this one is more than for funer- als. David going through the worst of times, echoes these timeless words, "The LORD is my shepherd, and I shall not want." And "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, because you are with me." I want to encourage you, that even if you face trials this year, kiss the wave, it may just cast you upon the rock of ages. DJ Bryant, Pastor BRENTON CHAPEL CHURCH OF CHRIST 1194 E. CR 400 N. "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them" (Genesis 1:27). In which case, I believe it's true that only God has the right to choose who shall live or die, not mortal men and women. This nation, the whole world in fact has turned their back on God. In our schools, work- place and our government. I believe this is why we see so much wickedness and evil all around us. The world we live in has grieved God with all its corruption. I believe God is very close to casting judg- ment on the earth. "Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is writ- ten, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord" (Romans 12:19). This should put the fear of God in all who choose to (mur- der) an innocent, helpless child in their mother's womb, even up to birth. My God, My God what have we done? Have mercy.
