This week at the library we will be making ThreeStranded Bracelets. The program will be 6 p.m., Thursday, May 23, at the Petersburg Branch. We encourage parents and children ages eight and up to attend. There is no charge and we provide the supplies. This is one of a series of jewelry classes we are offering. The Pike County Library will be offering two fun story times this week. Times are Wednesday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m. at the Otwell Library and Thursday, May 23, at 2:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Library. Each program will OES student council celebrates Four Star honor Otwell Elementary School Student Council members celebrate in front of the Indiana Four Star sign. OES was notified by IDOE State Superintendent, Glenda Ritz, they were one of 332 schools in Indiana designated to be a Four Star School this year. It is the fourth year in a row for this honor. Amber Manor receives outstanding customer service award Amber Manor Health Campus received the Platinum Award for excellence at The Trilogy Health Services 2013 Spring meeting, April 17-19, in Chicago, Ill. The award was based on customer satisfaction results from a semi-annual survey that is sent to residents' family members. Amber Manor Health Campus received recognition for their customer satisfaction scores in Staff Attitude, Quality of Nursing Care, Food Quality, Activ- ity Programming and Appearance/Cleanliness. "We are excited to receive such great recognition," said Shannon Graves, Executive Director. "We value the fact that our customers have given us their stamp of approval. Our goal is to exceed the expectations of our residents and their families every day by delivering the best care possible. I feel very fortunate to lead such a wonderful team of healthcare professionals." IPL celebrated academic achievement in Pike County Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) hosted the 11th annual Pike County School Corporation Recognition Dinner on Monday, May 20, in the Communications Building on the grounds of IPL's Petersburg Generation Station. The dinner honored the achievements students, teachers, staff and administrators have made during this past school year. During the dinner, IPL awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Pike Central High School students. Two teachers, at the elementary and secondary level, were named teacher of the year and given $250. Additionally, one teacher from each school in the district was selected to receive a $500 grant to go to- wards the purchase of materials and equipment, which can improve the quality of education experiences in their classrooms. "IPL is proud to be a part of this event for the 11th year and to have the opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of these students who will one day be a part of our workforce," said Mark Flint, IPL Director of Workforce Knowledge and Development. "It is also nice to have the opportunity to thank and recognize the staff and administrators who work so hard to make a difference in the lives of these students."
