When God is our home, our hope is in him. Josh Sanders, Pastor Sherry Julian, Reporter WHITE RIVER CHAPEL UMC 3555 W. SR 56 in Bowman 812-582-8896 Sunday morning worship 9 a.m.; Sunday school 10 :15 a.m. We are exploring the words in Philippians 4:4-9 and how they can help us thrive in chaos. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Methodist Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. Jeff Pinney, Pastor Nazarene PETERSBURG CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE 118 West Pike Ave. Church 812-354-8851 Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship and children's church at 10 :30 a.m.; children's and teen service at 6 p.m.; eve- ning worship at 6 p.m. and Wednesday prayer service at 6 p.m. Matthew 18:1-14 talks about who will be the great- est in the Kingdom of God. Jesus told the disciples that they needed to be like the little children. Children have a sense of awe for the Creator and the world around them. They al- so have a sense of depen- dence and know their need of help. They have a great trust in those around them; we need to have this same kind of trust. We need to humble ourselves as little children. Upcoming activities and services • Birthday/Anniversary celebration, Sunday, July 1, following the evening ser- vice. Words for today, from 1968 For America, this marks the 50th Anniversary for a turbulent year, which in- cluded high-profile assas- sinations, the Vietnam War and civil rights protests. Five decades on, turmoil still abounds. May we take hope and in- spiration from Robert Ken- nedy, who, on the night of Martin Luther King's death, replaced a presidential-cam- paign speech with these words: "What we need in the United States is not divi- sion;... not hatred;... not vi- olence and lawlessness, but love, and wisdom, and com- passion toward one anoth- er; and a feeling of justice to- ward those who still suffer within our country, wheth- er they be white or...black." Kennedy added: "We will have difficult times in the future...But the vast major- ity of white people and... black people in this country want to live together...and want justice for all human beings...Let's dedicate our- selves... to tame the savage- ness of man and make gen- tle the life of this world...and say a prayer for our country and for our people." As Mrs. Whyte starts the recitation she looks around the room, 'I pledge allegiance to the flag........', when her eyes are drawn to Andy who has his hand on his right cheek. 'Andy, I cannot continue till you put your hand over your heart,' she demands. Andy looks up and replies, 'It is over my heart.' A fter several more at- tempts to get Andy to put his hand over his heart, Mrs Whyte inquires, 'Why do you think that is your heart, Andy? ' 'Well Miss,' answers Andy, 'because every time my Grandma comes to visit she pats me there and says, "Bless your little heart," and my Grandma never lies.' Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teach- ings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" ( John 8:31-32 NLT).
