Office Courthouse — 801 E Main St, Petersburg, IN 47567-1249 Phone 812-354-6838 Fax 812-354-8028 Pike County 4-H Day Camp at Prides Creek Purdue Extension Pike County will host a 4-H Day Camp at Prides Creek on Tuesday, July 10 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Campers, grades 3-8, are invited to attend for $20 per camper. There is no cost for counselors, grades 9 -12, to attend. Activities will include swimming, canoeing, hiking and other fun activities. Space is limited to the first 20 campers. RSVP by July 2 to the Extension Office at 812- 354-6838 or email shalbrad@ purdue.edu. 4-H gets hands-on with robotics July 9 The Purdue Extension Pike County is hosting a hands- on robotics activity day and Toyota plant tour from 10 :30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 9 at the Pike County 4-H building. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Attendees will have the op- portunity to experience hands on robotics and team build- ing activities, and visit the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana Visitors Center for a plant tour. The cost is $10 per person. Lunch and transportation to and from the plant are in- cluded. Youth grades 3-12 are welcome to register. Space is limited. David Ackley grew up in Edon, a small Northwest Ohio town. He attended West Vir- ginia University where he ob- tained a Bachelor's of Science in Agribusiness Management and Rural Development with minors in Soil Science and En- vironmental Economics, fol- lowed by a Masters of Agricul- ture in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design. Ackley worked on local crop, beef, and hog farm op- erations in his home county. While he was in gradu- ate school, he worked as a Program Assistant/Gradu- ate Assistant in the Programs Division of the West Virgin- ia Natural Resources Conser- vation Services (NRCS) State Office. Ackley's interests include anything that relates to being outdoors. He is an avid hunter, fisherman, and out- doorsman. He enjoys watch- ing and being involved with sporting events such as foot- ball, baseball, and softball. He has a true passion for the agriculture industry and is excited to be able to work to better the industry. It's time to enter exhibits in the 2018 4-H Fair! The annual Pike County 4-H Fair pro- vides a great opportunity for 4-H members to show off their hard work through fair ex- hibits. Now is the time to begin entering ex- hibits that members wish to display into Fai- rEntry. All 4-H Building and Livestock exhib- its must be entered into FairEntry by July 16 so exhibit tags can be printed. Livestock proj- ects will also need an exhibit tag, so be sure to enter your animals as well. Be sure to include a project description so we know to expect. Below are instructions to help you get started with FairEntry. If you have any questions or issues, please do not hesitate to contact our office and we will gladly assist. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Go to the Pike County 4-H FairEntry page at http://pikecounty4hfair.fairentry.com. 2. Select "Sign in with your 4HOnline account." 3. A separate box will pop up where you can enter the login email address and pass- word for 4HOnline. If you have forgotten your password, please use the "I forgot my password" option on the 4HOnline login page, and you will be sent a new tempo- rary password. 4. Click the "login" box. 5. This will take you to the welcome screen, where you will need to select the green box to "Begin Registration." 6. Choose that you want to register an "in- dividual." 7. Select the dot next to the name of the 4-H member you would like to register, then click "continue." 8. Do not create any exhibitors from scratch, as you will not be able to add exhibits for your projects. 9. Answer any required questions and review the exhibitor's information. Make any cor- rections using the edit boxes. 10. Click "continue" when you are ready to move on. 11. When you are taken back to the Exhib- itor information page, click "continue to entries." 12. Select the green "add an entry" box to the right of the exhibitor's name. 13. Click "select" next to the department you would like to enter. 14. Click "select" next to the division you would like to choose. 15. Click "select" next to the class you would like to choose. 16. Review your selections and click "contin- ue" to move to the next step. 17. Answer additional questions required and click "continue" after completing each question. 18. Decide if you would like to: a. Add another entry b. Add another entry in this division c. Register another exhibitor d. Continue to payment 19. Complete the required information and click "continue." 20. Once all the information is complete, "submit" the entries. Want help with FairEntry? There will be a county-wide 4-H meeting on Monday, July 16 at 6 p.m. in the Pike County 4-H Building. The county-wide 4-H meeting will provide a great opportunity to ask questions related to the 4-H Fair, and will allow families the oppor- tunity to enter projects into FairEntry. 2018 Pike County 4-H Fair Open Class Exhibit rules • Entry will be $1 per entry. The entry fee will be due upon entering. There will be no pre-registration. • Only one item per exhibitor may be exhib- ited in each sub-division from each class. Exp: Photography Division, 1 entry for Black and White Nature and 1 entry for Black and White Animals, etc. • Classes will be divided into 2 age groups; 17 and Under & 18 and Over • Exhibits will be judged with 1st quality being blue and 2nd quality being red. A Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion will be selected in each of the divisions (per age group), if merited. • Open class exhibit times: – All items will be entered on Monday, July 23 from 10 - 11:30 a.m., with judging be- ginning shortly thereafter. – Exhibits will be released on Sunday, July 29 from noon-3 p.m. It is the entrant's responsibility to pick up exhibits and/ or ribbons during release times. Un- claimed items will be discarded unless prior arrangements have been made. – All baked items must be entered on dis- posable dishes. Baked goods (minus two slices or pieces) may be picked up after 5 p.m. on the day of entry ( July 23) – If opened, canned items will be refriger- ated and can be picked up after 5 p.m. on the day of entry ( July 23). • Items entered should be exhibited in the name of the person who made it. • All exhibits must have been made during the past year. No previously exhibited item will be accepted. • Residents of Pike County and residents of surrounding counties are invited to enter Open Class exhibits. • Clear plastic bags may be used to cover items. • Pictures and wall decorations should be framed and ready to hang. • All items must be properly labeled at time of entry. Entry tags will be available for ex- hibitors at time of entry. • Every precaution will be taken to insure safety of all articles, but in no case will the management be responsible for loss or injury to articles.
