C-2 Church Wednesday, June 20, 2018 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued from page 1 "In nine lifetimes, you'll never know as much about your cat as your cat knows about you"—Michael De Mon- tage. This week, PAWS is featuring a plush young cat named Kahlua, who is a Russian Blue. The out- standing feature of the Russian Blue is their qui- et sweetness. They make good pets for people with allergies, as they don't shed much and have low levels of Fel d 1 protein, the allergenic protein in cat saliva. Kahlua rarely leaves her perch upon the top of a tall cat tree. She loves to be petted and made over, even though she is shy and gentle. She is sure to bring love and laugh- ter to whomever adopts her due to her great dis- position and funny antics. She is spayed, has all her shots and can be adopt- ed for $ 30. Call 812-354- 9894. Sunday was Father's day and I certainly wish all the Father's out there a belat- ed Happy father's day. Our sons and their wives took us to Applebees in Jasper for a Father's day meal. I love my sons but I don't like to see them make such a fuss about the Old Man. We might not be the world's model ideal family but I love them and I am proud of each of them. Be- ing a good family is another one of those things that takes an effort from each member and a willingness to live and let live without trying to mi- cro-manage one another. Next Friday June 22 be- tween the hours of 10 a.m. and 1p.m. the Pike County Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Lions of Pike county to offer a chance to have your old papers shred- ded for free. There will be a truck at the parking lot of the Petersburg Hardware store to collect your old paper to be shredded. Please take advan- tage of this free service and maybe we can do it again for Pike County. I have always ask you to be a blessing and that will not change but this week I'm al- so asking you to make a point of being extra nice to some- one this week. Remember to accept the blessings as they come. RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 AYRSHIRE VALLEY G.B. CHURCH 1947 E. Co. Rd. 375 S. "He who says he abides in ( Jesus) ought himself also to walk just as He walked" (I John 2:6). If the people in your com- munity were asked about the Christians who live there, what do you think they would say? Would they say they recognize Christians by their love, or because of something else? Consider these two true situations: In one small town, a restaurant decided to close on Sunday nights because the staff refused to work for the after evening church crowd. The people who came from church were rude, messy and left small tips. In another town, the manager of a store that sold concert tickets reported that some of the rudest people she had ever met were sev- eral who had bought tickets to hear a well-known Chris- tian singing group. Sometime we don't real- ize it, but the non-Christian world is watching us. Our neighbors and acquaintanc- es and others we encounter notice our behavior. They know that if we claim to be followers of Christ, we are supposed to be kind and compassionate. They know our lives should reflect love and Christ likeness ( John 13:35; I John 2:6). We know that we shouldn't be so busy with our own in- terests that we don't love other people. We need to make sure that the people who are watching our lives will want to get to know our NEW LIBERTY G.B. CHURCH (Coe) 1820 S. Co Rd. 800 S. Oakland City Gary Pancake, Pastor 812-664-4716 Sunday school 9:30 a.m., Faron McLaughlin, Super- intendent, Ryan Edrington, Assistant; and Sunday morn- ing worship at 10 :30 a.m.; Wednesday evening Bible study "Promise Land" at 6 p.m. Again, a Happy Fathers Day to all who are fathers or serve as fathers. We appre- ciated those who led or had a part in our service. The service was all about fathers and the message was from Exodus 15:3 about be- ing a warrior for Christ. Fa- thers must always guard their children against world- ly things and all of the pit- falls the devil sends their way. They must protect themselves and be the best example for their children. Fathers should show their human side and show the children that they are not perfect, but show how to ask and attain forgiveness. Summer officially begins on June 21. Junior campers will be at Camp Brosend from June 21-24. June 24 will be assistant teacher Sunday and the of- fering will go into the build- ing fund. Keep our church fami- ly and our community in prayer. Our Mission Statement: Loving the 99, always look- ing for the one. The Bible also says, "Chil- dren, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and moth- er, which is the first com- mandment with promise; that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth" (Ephesians 6:1-3). Someone has said, "When parents cannot control chil- dren in the home, it is diffi- cult for the government to control them on the streets." From the Bible, it is evident that parents and children both have obligations. Because He lives. Rick Walburn, Pastor Happiness and Faith "A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spir- it." (Proverbs 15:13, NIV ). As we walk through this world of trouble and strife, happiness can be one of the hardest things to find and keep. This verse stands as a reminder that we as Christians should do our best to remain happy and keep our faith strong, even through hard times, because we will never en- counter them alone. Je- sus is always with us and is there to take our heart- ache and pain away. As children of God, we have nothing to fear, for our God is a mighty and pow- erful God and he will pro- tect us, guide and shelter us from harm, and bring us through any hardships we may encounter on our journey.
