Petersburg Elementary Church Notes Continued from page 3 Pentecostal Presbyterian Wesleyan HOUSE OF MERCY CHURCH Corner of East and Porter Winslow Pastor 812-789-5229 A Church with open arms and a loving heart. Sunday morning worship service at 10 a.m., with Sun- day school classes at 10 :45 a.m.; Every other Tuesday night, prayer at 7 p.m. The Bible states that to obey is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams. We saw in Sunday's service evidence of this as God moved through the life of one of His children. God desires to move by the Holy Spirit but we have to have an ear to hear and a heart to obey. Are you prepared to hear and obey? Evangelist Keith Bar- ron will be at House of Mer- cy, December 17-19. Sunday at 10 a.m. and Monday and Tues- day at 7 p.m. Come to receive from God. Pray for your country, our president and government, your local government, our soldiers and all pastors. Re- member to pray for the sick and afflicted, and those in the nursing homes and hospitals. Be a friend to your neigh- bors, co-workers, and any with whom that you come in- to contact. To have a friend, you need to be a friend. Jesus said what you give out is what you will receive back. May you find peace and joy in your life this week. As we prepare for the Christmas season, let's re- member the reason for the season. Most of us strive to "keep Christ in Christmas," but the busyness has a way of keep- ing our minds distracted on what is important this time of the year. Even when you are decorating you can remember the reason for the season. A lot of our Christmas decorations have religious significance. The wreath is round, remind- ing us of the constancy of God. The Christmas tree is an ever- green, a reminder that God's promises never fail. Even the lights can serve as reminders that Jesus is the light of world. "Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life'" ( John 8:12, ESV ). We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter (812)354-8471 • germanamerican.com Business Banking services for what comes next.
