For some, they have to resort to moving in with a friend or relative due to financial dif- ficulties. Without the proper guidance, making a smart choice of where to live can be very difficult for a senior adult. The Neal Senior Center will be offering a seminar that will answer the many ques- tions connected with this very common issue. The seminar, "Senior Housing Options for Independent Living", will be offered on Thursday, October 5, from 9:30AM-11AM. Charles Tarlton, Senior Real Estate Specialist with Crystal Springs Estates will direct the seminar. Topics will include financial options, current housing conditions, and new home options. North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Cleveland County Senior Games/SilverArts has been sanctioned as an official qualifying site for State Finals 2018. The Cleveland County Senior Games will be held in Shelby and Boiling Springs, NC on March 5-9, 2018 and the SilverArts will be held in Shelby on April 2-5, 2018. The Cleveland County Senior Games will be offering compe- tition in many sports, such as team sports, bocce and pickleball. The SilverArts portion of the games includes painting, pottery and poetry. For volunteer, sponsorship or registration informa- tion, please contact Daniel Dedmon at the Neal Senior Center at 704/481-7387. The Cleveland County Senior Games/SilverArts will be presented by the Neal Senior Center and sponsored by Gardner-Webb University, The Cleveland County Arts Council and The Shelby Parks and Recreation Department. North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing year-round health promotion and wellness for adults 50 years of age or better. NCSG, Inc. is sponsored state- wide by the N.C. Division of Aging and Adult Services. Cleveland County Senior Games Sanctioned Do you, or someone you know, live alone and have little contact with people? If the answer is yes, then the "Council on Aging Telephone Reassurance Program" might be for you. This program is especially for seniors age 60 and above that would like for someone to make phone contact with them Monday through Friday. On these days, a volunteer will call to make sure that you are up and okay. If the volunteer does not get an answer, they will notify a contact per- son that will come check on you.
