Tim Miller, Pastor Doris Catt, Reporter break the close, intimate re- lationship that they had. For thousands of years after that, people could only have a rela- tionship with God through a veil. Using a bride and groom as an example, it's only when the veil is removed that true intimacy happens. Jesus' whole purpose in living on this earth was to re- store that intimate relation- ship between God and His people. He accomplished that on the cross. "Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom" (Mark 15:38). Ladies' War Room Bible study on Wednesdays, at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Peg- gy Smith. We as Christians need to pray for everyone. We read the question in Gene- sis asking God, "Am I my brother's keeper? " Accord- ing to the Apostle Paul in I Timothy 2:1, we must be in touch with and praying for all of those in our world. It is an amazing thought that we can approach God's throne with confidence. Our Mission Statement: To Know Christ; To Share Christ and To Live Christ. "Sing praise to the Lord, You saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Hear, O Lord and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper. You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with glad- ness, to the end that my glo- ry may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You for- ever" (Psalm 30 :4,5,10 -12). We look forward to see- ing you at all of our servic- es. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us as we gather for praise and wor- ship, celebration and study. Fred J. Grenier, Pastor Corinna Williams, Report- er HOUSE OF MERCY CHURCH Corner of East and Porter Winslow Pastor 812-789-5229 A Church with a family atmosphere and God's love. Sunday morning worship service at 10 a.m. with Sun- day school classes at 10 :45 a.m.; Every other Tuesday night, prayer at 7 p.m. Faith, fully am I trusting Him. Hebrews 11:1 states "Now faith is...," meaning that faith is now not yester- day nor tomorrow but today. We as children of God have to come to the place to walk in that faith fully. The mira- cles that occurred in the Bi- ble by the disciples was not just for then but are for to- day. I believe we are com- ing into a season of that great outpouring of the Ho- ly Spirit that if we will just stand in faith we will see those signs, wonders and miracles. We at House of Mercy welcome you to our servic- es. You will be treated in so many ways, you are bound to like one. When in Winslow, drive by and see what God is do- ing. Pray for your country, our president and government, your local government, our soldiers and all pastors. Re- member to pray for the sick and afflicted, and those in the nursing homes and hos- pitals. Be a friend to your neigh- bors, co-workers, and any with whom you come into contact. To have a friend, you need to be a friend. Je- sus said what you give out is what you will receive back. May you find peace and joy in your life this week. God's Servant and friend to Humanity. Come visit us, our doors are always open to you. Independence Day lessons for church life Return to the basics - On July 4, we commemorated the origins of our country. In terms of faith, we also pe- riodically need to hear again the foundational stories of Creation, the Israelites and, of course, Jesus. Honor the gift of free- dom- "For freedom Christ has set us free...do not sub- mit again to a yoke of slav- ery" (Galatians 5:1, ESV ). We strive as citizens to pre- serve and live out our nation- al freedom. Likewise, as cit- izens of God's kingdom we live gladly in the freedom of salvation and share that gift with others. Enjoy community - July 4 is known for picnics, pa- rades, and other commu- nity gatherings. Similarly, the church is nourished by coming together for wor- ship, meals, and other spe- cial events. Be light in the darkness- As fireworks brighten up the sky with light and color, the church is called to display the Gospel's unique light in a dark world. Our word dy- namite and the Greek word power- as in, "You will re- ceive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you" (Acts 1:18) - share a root. Through God's power in us, we share Jesus- dynamically! -with others. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday.
