Klipsch presents a $7,500 check to Pike County School Corporation Super- intendent Suzanne Blake to help pay for lighting improvements at the basketball and tennis courts on Walnut St. next to the Old Petersburg Gym. Klipsch said the money came from a donation by IPL to the City of Petersburg to help with lighting Main St. following one of the Stellar grant attempts by Pe- tersburg. He said Petersburg was then awarded a Streetscape grant to pay for new street lights and other work on Main St. So Petersburg asked IPL if they would mind switching their donation to help with lighting the courts. Blake said the donation helped pay for the lighting to be converted to LED lighting at the courts. Because they are so much cheaper to operate than the previous lights, they now have the lights on at night until 11:30 p.m. so the courts can be used. Klipsch said they are go- ing to look into making other improvements at the courts as well.
