Meyer, 59, of Boone Township, Ind., passed away at 10 :43 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017, as a result of a farming accident. He was born in Jasper on November 17, 1957, to Melvin W. and Anna Marie ( Wening) Meyer. He mar- ried Ruth Hoffman on April 7, 1979, in St. Mary's Cath- olic Church in Ireland, Ind. Kent was a member of the Jasper High School Class of 1976. He was a lifetime farm- er. He was a member of the Jasper German Club and a past member of the Otwell Ruritan Club, the Pike Coun- ty Young Farmers and the Dubois County Pork Pro- ducers. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Meyer, of Boone Town- ship; one son, Bart K. Mey- er, of Jasper; one daughter, Holly (Scott) Reckelhoff, of Jasper; six grandchildren; his parents, Melvin W. and Anna Marie Meyer, Boone Township; two sisters, Mel- anie (Dennis) Freyberger, of Dubois, and Karen (Steve) Knust, of Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Buri- al was held at 10 a.m. Tues- day, June 6, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.becher- kluesner.com. MICHAEL GILBERT Michael Gilbert, 41, went home to be with our Lord, in the arms of his parents, on May 18, 2017. He was a loving father, son, brother, husband and friend to many. He believed in God, country and family. Michael was a member of Woodburn Baptist Church in Woodburn, Ky., and en- joyed playing drums in the worship band. He highly re- spected and loved his broth- er, Donald Gilbert. Michael proudly served his coun- try with the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell, Ky. He en- joyed sports and played foot- ball for Russellville High School and Campbellsville College. He had a big heart and was always willing to share anything he had with those in need. Michael will be missed by all whose lives he touched and will be eternally loved and cherished by his family. Michael is survived by his parents, Mike and Debbie Gilbert; a grandmother, An- nabel Richardson; a daugh- ter, Haley Kate Gilbert; a brother Donald (Holly) Gil- bert; and niece and nephew, Ashlee and Dalton Gilbert. Services were at Wood- burn Baptist Church, with military burial in Woodburn Cemetery. JACK C. PIPES Jack C. Pipes, 76, of Pe- tersburg, entered into his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born on June 16, 1940, to Austice Pipes and Genevria Pipes Boggess. He graduated from Pe- tersburg High School with the Class of 1958. Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and loved his church family. He retired from IPL in 2001 and cur- rently worked part-time at Sisson Steel. He was a member of the Pike Optimist, Petersburg Jaycees, and was the pres- ident of the Timeless Clas- sics Auto Club of Pike Coun- ty. He served many years in the Petersburg Little League. He was known as "Pap" or everyone's favorite, San- ta Claus. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two in- fant children. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha (Parker) Pipes, of Petersburg; chil- dren, Andrea (Mike Mor- ton) Blocker and David (Lo- ri) Pipes; five granddaugh- ters, Taylor Horrall, Jordan and Jalen Blocker, and Shel- bi and Karsyn Pipes, all of Petersburg; a sister, Peggy (Don) Warner; a brother, Bill (Diana) Boggess, of In- dianapolis; and nieces and nephews. Visitation was Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 3-8 p.m., and Friday, June 2, 2017, from 9 -11 a.m., with the fu- neral service at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Petersburg. CONNIE C. GR AHAM Connie C. Graham, 79, of Petersburg, passed away at 11:50 a.m., June 3, 2017, at his home. He was born May 5, 1938, in McHenry, Ky., to Conrad and Mattie (Burden) Gra- ham. He was a retired coal miner who had worked with Old Ben Coal Company. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry Lee Graham; brothers, Jim- my and Glen Graham; and sisters Dimple Frances and Opal Wallace. Connie is survived by his wife, Shirley Graham, of Pe- tersburg, whom he married on July 29, 1956; a daughter, Theresa (Greg) Drieman, of Monroe City; brothers, Cary Graham, of Centertown, Ky., and Monie Graham, of Bea- ver Dam, Ky.; and grand- child Taylor Burnett. Services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Petersburg Free Meth- odist Church, with Rev. Paul Newton and Rev. Mark Schlecty officiating. Visita- tion was at the church from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Buri- al will follow in Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Horton, 80, of Ar- genta, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Decatur Memo- rial Hospital. He was born June 28, 1936, in Jackson, Miss., the son of Leon and Ollie Hor- ton. He married Jenita Wil- lis (Shorty) on January 26, 1968, in Petersburg. He was the owner of a construction company and a member of Oakley Brick Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a sportsman. He is survived by his wife, Jenita, of Argenta; a daugh- ter, Jelena Ekiss, of Cerro Gordo; grandchildren, Ja- cob Massey, Jaelyn Guinn and Tyler Horton; mother- in-law, Mary Willis, of Pe- tersburg; brothers-in-law, Roger Willis and Tim Wil- lis, both of Petersburg; sis- ter-in-law, Juanita Richard- son, of Petersburg; and ma- ny nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Lee Horton; a sister, Fran- cis Thorne; and a brother-in- law, Larry McGee. Funeral services were at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 3 at Brintlinger and Earl Funer- al Home in Decatur, Ill., with burial in Walnut Hills Ceme- tery in Petersburg. EDWARD CHUMLEY Edward G. "Gerald" Chumley, of Winslow, for- merly of Evansville, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Golden Living Center in Petersburg. He was a 1955 gradu- ate of Bosse High School, a self-employed dental lab technician, an avid and ac- complished photographer, bass fisherman, garden- er, nature and animal lov- er, charter member of Land Between the Lakes Associ- ation and a maker of leather artwork. He enjoyed hydro- plane racing and was a mem- ber of the Indiana Outboard Association. Surviving Gerald are his wife and partner of 40 years, Barbara (Richmond) Chum- ley; two sons, Eric Chumley, of Crawford, Texas, and An- drew Chumley, of Winslow; a sister, Gail (Tom) Ingram, of Evansville; four grand- children, Chris, BreAnn, Cassie and Brad; and many nieces, nephews and cous- ins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Gib- son and Edna (McKnight) Chumley; a sister, Con- nie Chumley Clark; three brothers, Fred, Jim and Cur- tiss Chumley; and a grand- daughter, Hope Chumley. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Pierre Funer- al Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, Evansville. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Garth Grayson Richard- son, Jr., 84, went to meet his Savior on June 2, 2017, at his home in Kuttawa, Ky., in the presence of his fami- ly. He had been battling leu- kemia for the past four-and- a-half years, with the assis- tance of Vanderbilt Hospital. He was born January 16, 1933, in Evansville, the son of Ellen Aline (Dedman) and Garth Richardson, Sr., and grew up in Winslow. He was a member of the famous Winslow Eskimos basketball team, which won back-to-back sectionals and regionals in the 1950 and '51 seasons. He married Betty Lee Haskins on Aug. 9, 1953. Grayson shared his love of hunting and fishing with his family. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indiana Hoosiers. You may still hear him yell- ing at the T V when they are playing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee (Haskins) Richardson on March 7, 2017; his parents; one sister, Virginia; one grandson, A.J. Richardson; and one great-granddaugh- ter, Colby Jane. Grayson and Betty had four children: Jo Ellen (Mark) Bailey, Scott (An- nette) Richardson, Tim- my Richardson, and Sal- ly (Mitchell) Whitehead, and they all survive. He is also survived by cousins, Bob ( Jenny) Erwin, Nan- cy (Bruce) Lake and Rhon- da (Ken) Jochim; and one niece, Pam (Larry) Cardi- nal. He was the proud grand- father of 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Chris (Ketina) Bailey, Doug (Au- tumn) Bailey, Ann (Derek) Wood, Stephanie Richard- son, Casey ( Jessie) Rich- ardson, Katie Richardson, Jordan Whitehead, Alexan- der Whitehead and Hayley Whitehead. Great-grand- children are Quin, Amellia and Levi Bailey, Easton and Taylen Bailey, Emory and Kiersten Wood, Caden and Madison Richardson. A memorial service was on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Winslow Christian Church. Burial was at Ashby Ceme- tery in Winslow. Mize, 88, of Pe- tersburg, passed away at 1:45 p.m. June 2, 2017, at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg. He was born December 6, 1928, in Pike County, to Virgil and Cassie (Coleman) Mize. He was the owner of Mize T V Sales & Service and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sis- ters, Hazel Barrett and El- sie Small. He is survived by his wife, Rosalee Mize, of Pe- tersburg, whom he married October 10, 1952; a son, Da- vid (Toni) Mize, of Peters- burg; three daughters, Bon- nie (Rick) Sikes, and Bren- da (Tom) Tomson, both of Greensburg, Penn., and Dar- len Chanley, of Petersburg; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were at Harris Funeral Home in Peters- burg at 1 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, with Rev. Thomas Tomson officiating. Friends called from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial fol- lowed in the Anderson Chap- el Cemetery. TEDDY MORRIS Teddy L. Morris, 83, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born in Oakland City, to Harry and Arlene Morris on September 23, 1933. He served his country in a distinguished military ca- reer of 28 years in the Unit- ed States Air Force. That career took him all over the world, and he received ma- ny commendations for his service. He joins his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley Sue Ey- er-Morris, in heaven. He is also preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; and a great-granddaughter. He is survived by one brother, Merle Morris; two sisters, Carole Sue Phillips and Ruth Ann Hill, of In- diana; his five much-loved children and their spous- es, Rebecca (Guy) Cowell, of North Carolina, Doug- las (Tamara) Morris, of Alaska, Kathy ( Joel) Mor- ris-Thorstad, of Alaska, Tim- othy (Carol) Morris, of Al- abama, and Tracy (Doug- las) Morris-Armon, of Alas- ka; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. ROBERT SHANE Robert Wayne Shane, 91, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, in Sebring, Fla. He was born in Brooklyn, Ind., to the late Lawrence Edwin and Thelma Dean (Forrester) Shane on April 25, 1926. He served in the Navy during World War II, be- longed to the VFW and was a member of the Masonic Lodge while he lived in In- diana. He retired from Indi- anapolis Power and Light as a maintenance supervisor. JEFFRIES Judith E. "Judy" Jeffries, 74, of Huntingburg, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born June 15, 1942, in Jasper, to Pete and Edna (Bamburger) Buec- hlein. She was united in mar- riage to Emmett Faurest "Frosty" Jeffries on May 12, 1962, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper. She was a cook at the YMI in Huntingburg for many years, collected coke memo- rabilia and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Faurest "Frosty" Jeffries, who died May 20, 2014; and siblings, Bill Buechlein and Georgann McDaniel. She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Kev- in) Brown and Angie Chil- dress, both of Huntingburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. EDT, Thursday, June 8, 2017, at St. Mary's Catho- lic Church in Huntingburg, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rev.
