The Council on Aging/ Neal Senior Center recog- nized their volunteers on Friday, March 31st with a vol- unteer appreciation brunch. The theme for this year's celebration was "Volunteers are BEARY special". As the volunteers were greeted, they received a beary special nam- etag and then were welcomed in the dining room area where the tables were decorated with a variety of stuffed bears. The volunteers were served by the COA staff a beary delicious meal of breakfast casserole, hash browns, muffins and fruit. Rev. Charles Reed start- ed the appreciation brunch with a beary grateful invoca- tion and the board president, Dick Strachan, welcomed and thanked all the volunteers for the many wonderful services they provide. Lori Livingston, the volunteer coordinator, con- tinued the program and com- pared the volunteers to the "Care Bears". Like the "Care Bears," the Senior Center vol- unteers come with many spe- cial character traits and the many talents and gifts that the volunteers come with to help the senior center reach and accomplish their mission. The Senior Center has over 300 volunteers to help with delivering meals, working in the kitchen, covering the front desk, consignment store and gift shop, along with teaching many of our classes and semi- nars. The list goes on, just like the multitude of thanks, from the bottom of our hearts, we are ever so grateful for each and every volunteer. Council on Aging /Neal Senior Center Recognized Volunteers Mary Stuman, Dub Peeler, Hester Haynes, Lynne Wilson, Ruth Williams, Shirley Broughton, Vera Weathers received the gold star for volunteering over 300 hours for 3 years or more at the Neal Senior Center.
