SANTA CRUZ SENTINEL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2016 LIVE IT UP! 17 Don Jackson Supports Nonprofits That Perform Well The one thing I have learned while serving on a hospital foundation board in the central valley for over 30 years is that hospitals have a never ending need for improvements to their facilities and new equipment to remain on the cutting edge of medicine. My first assignment with the Dominican Foundation was to serve on the task force that reviewed the hospital's needs and identified 10 projects that would provide the greatest benefit to the residents of Santa Cruz County. The Foundation then set its budget to assist in financing each of these priorities. I have observed the progress made and the addition of new priorities to meet the medical needs of the community. It is a never ending process and requires our support. I have always paid special attention to how well the charitable organizations I have been involved with are run. I observe their ability to raise and manage money, to invest carefully and spend wisely. Dominican has met my requirements for outstanding performance which is why I have chosen to leave a legacy gift to the Dominican Foundation through my trust to help future generations. I will continue to support Dominican on an annual basis for its current needs. I have shared this plan with my family and they recognize and agree that it is important that Dominican have the funds to purchase the newest equipment and facilities so that the highest level of care can be provided locally.
