The team has also been working to stay strong by working better as a team as well as practicing the skills needed in softball. "We achieved working together and really coming together as at team which helped us play better as a JV Softball wins league Brittany Villa Staff Writer The 2012 Junior Varsity Girl's Softball season has come to an end with the girls very sat- isfied with their successes. "We worked very hard and earned every single win we were able to achieve," said sophomore, Alyssa Hethcoat. The team played three games recently. On Tuesday, May 8, the JV girls won their game against the Foothill Cougars. They took the lead, scoring two runs in the third inning and ended the game nine to five. On Wednesday, May 9, the team conquered the Shasta Wolves, finishing the match with a score of seven to two. Thursday, May 10, the girls played their final game of the season. They were able to shut out the Enterprise Hornets with a score of eight to zero. The girls all agreed that they had a great relationship with their coach, Aubrie Stroman this season. "Aubrie was an amazing coach," said sophomore, Amber Harms. "She's probably one of the best coaches I've ever had," said sophomore, Hailee Nicholls. The team has grown expo- nentially throughout the season, improving skill and increasing team chemistry. "We started to communicate a lot more toward the end of the season than we had been at the beginning of the season," said Hethcoat. They achieved their goal of winning league with a record of eight wins and nine losses and ended on a positive note. Varsity soccer loses last game of the season to PV Laura Defonte Staff Writer The Red Bluff High School Varsity girls soccer team lost their big game 0-4 against Pleasant Valley on Tuesday, May 15. "We tried our hardest, but in the long run we weren't communicating as much as we should have," said Freshman Alyssa Mena. "We have lost to them last year and this year so I really wanted to beat Pleasant Valley," said Junior Lauren McFarlen. They lost their first game against Pleasant Valley five to zero due to lack of communication. "We practiced and played hard, but needed to improve in some skills. It's been a great year and I'm looking forward to next season," said Freshman Jordan Vazquez. Alyssa also added that they "...I'm looking forward to next season." -Jordan Vazquez were the toughest team they had played this season. The Lady Spartans are overall 6-9-2 and in league they are 6-6-2. Their national rank in JV soccer beats PV to win league title Payton Cumpton Staff Writer The JV girls soccer season has come to an end and they achieved their goal by winning first in league. "We definitely reached our goal, as a matter of fact sur- passed it. We were the best team," said Coach Jason Car- reras. One of the many goals the team wanted to achieve was beating PV because they are their rivals and they have good strategies. "We lost to PV a couple times but beat them in the deciding game," said Coach Carreras. According to the team the PV game was very exciting and intense; there were air horns, fans, and many supportive par- ents. Carreras wanted to let girls have as much fun as they can, while increasing their knowl- edge of the game. According to coach a high- light of the season was "our fi- nal game against PV to see who was best in league, it was a good atmosphere that the players will never forget." "Practices were hard, but easy when we conditioned, it taught us new things and how to support each other. There was a time when we messed around with the team but also a time when we focused," said Daisy Brose. According to Espi Ceja, they had a good season and they were aggressive and communi- cated well.. "I've never been on a team where we had so much chemis- try," said Daisy Brose There were some injuries that ended some of the players' seasons but according to Espi the injuries didn't make an im- pact on the season because the team stayed motivated. "If I were to make the team next year I hope to have an un- defeated title," said Espi Ceja. "My desire is to coach next year, I want to stay with these group of girls as long as I can," said Coach Carreras. "Sad to see an end, we had good times, memories, and good laughs, im looking forward to the winter soccer season," said Carreras Egan Meagher/BLUFFER America is 683 and in California they are ranked 107 as of May 16, 2012. " Pleasant Valley's mid fielders were very aggressive and better compared to some that we already had played against," said Junior Rachel Ward. The Lady Spartans wrapped up their season 6-9-2 and Pleasant Valley was their last game and with that loss they didn't make it to play-offs. Harris credits the teams success to trusting each other to do their part to win. "All of us playing to the best of our ability and trusting each other to come up big when we need them to has really helped us to keep up our wins," said Harris. The team now has to figure out what they need to do to become section champs in Saturday's game. "We just need to keep Egan Meagher/BLUFFER team,' said Tayler Zazueta, sophomore. our energy level high in the sections game in order to win the game," said Zazueta. The varsity softball team will face-off against Shasta for the Section title on Shasta's home field at 2 o'clock on Saturday. Daniel wasn't the only one who helped the team. Peter Mit- zel placed second with 315 points which is 11 points off of Daniel Frantz score of 304. "I worked hard all season and it paid off," said Peter. He also added that the golf teams that they played against were really good and the schools that they played against this year have improved their game. Spartans "Pleasant Valley had an amaz- ing golf team this year; The best I have seen from them since I start- ed coaching," said Head Coach Elena Tomasetti. " Also Enterprise High School and Shasta High School had strong teams this year and will be really good competitors when their freshman's and sophomores get more experienced," said To- masetti. But with winning Red Bluff High school golf teams third championship in a row the coach and the players are happy. The golf team as a whole didn't qualify in the masters match at Tierra Oaks, but Daniel Frantz being top in the league was invited to attend the Masters on May 15 at Lake Shastina. Though Daniel went on, the golf season is over till next year.
