Once your plant is fully go wrong, w e n t wrong in Wat ney's sit uation, and the s c a r i e s t part was that he was alone through all of this. J u s t imagine being the only person on a planet where nothing grows, struggl-ing to survive in extreme tempera- tures day and night. I mean, help is only 140 million miles away. Anyway, I enjoyed this movie mostly because the director threw in a bunch of plot twists, and Watney was a likeable and witty character. However, in 'The Martian' You'll be disappointed if you loved the classic. Page 4 October 16, 2015 Arts and Entertainment "Amazing and funny way to cure boredom." "Perfect film for a science geek." Main Street, Red Bluff Open: 530-727-6057 4:00am- 10:00pm "...it's all too easy to forget to drink water, which makes up 70% of our bodies." Since I'm a fan of science, the moment I saw 'The Martian' trailer, I knew I had to watch it. Now, this science fiction film is packed with an abundance of plot twists and gut wrenching time constraints. It all begins with the Ares III crew on Mars. While they're collecting samples, a severe sand storm pounces on them out of the blue, and they're forced to abandon the mission and evacuate the planet. Amidst the chaos, the astronauts make an effort to navigate back to the rocket against the rapid winds and sand. Then, a satellite is ripped from it's communication tower and thrown against Mark Watney, the main character. Watney flies through the air as a result of the impact and is presumed dead by the rest of the crew. For the fear of r i s k i n g t h e c r e w ' s lives, the m i s s i o n c o m m a - nder is f o r c e d to board the rocket and exit the planet without Watney. This is what I consider an actual scary movie because something like this can actually happen in real life. Maybe not soon, but as our technology is advancing, we should expect a manned mission to Mars in my generation's lifetime. Although this isn't a gory movie like our traditional horror films, it still kept me on edge because it's a whole new set of rules concerning outer space. Everything that could novel written by Andy Weir, he physically describes a few of the characters in the crew as Asians, but the movie didn't feature any Asian actors as part of the Ares crew. Personally, I dislike it when a movie is made based on a book, and the cast is different than that of the book. I'm aware that they can't follow exactly what the novel says, but the least they can do is match up a cast that fit the characters' description in the book. Other than that, the movie was great, and I recommend it if you're into science-fiction. 'Grease' was produced in 1978 on June 1. This movie is a classic. In its time, this was a pretty 'rad' movie with all the kids. It's a classic love story where two cliques collide. Danny Zuko, aka Zuk played by John Travolta, has a summer romance with an australian exchange student named Sandy Olsson, played by Olivia Newton John. In that time period, it was like a modern day Romeo and Juliet, with the two kids who fell hopelessly in love but are being stopped by their cliques. They met in the summer and when summers over she was supposed to return home, she didn't. She starts school at the same school that Zuko goes to after her Olsson's parents decide to stay in America and she meets the pink ladies. The pink ladies are a group of salty, with a touch of a saucy attitude, girls who incorporates Rizzo (Stockard Channing), Frenchy (Didi Conn), Jan (Jamie Donnelly), and Marty (Dinah Manoff ). Throughout the movie, the two lovers start coming closer together but still have their ups and downs. Of course every couple does, but usually over more realistic things than just their high school cliques. They sing about each other a lot, considering the fact that this is a musical. In fact, Grease was a musical play before they filmed it and turned it into a movie with a different cast, for the most part. It's like a classical high school musical, just a lot more realistic or life-like if you will (except a lot less singing), but it's more realistic with the way both genders act. Mentally and physically for that time period. The girls are willing to change for the man while the man is only willing to change enough to get the girl. In real life, and apparently in some movies, guys only think about one thing. There willing to do whatever it takes to get it and this movie proves that it's always been that way, even way back in the 1970's. In the end, they graduate and leave to go to the carnival where Zuko sees Olsson dressed in black leather and where Olsson sees Zuko in a track and field letterman jacket. The couple literally switched rules, her in leather, and him in a letterman. He sees her, throws off his letterman and they both sing and dance to a well rehearsed song. In the end, the couple jumps into Zuko's classic convertible and drive off into the sunset to start their perfect life, and family, together forever. There seems to be a trend of remaking classic Disney movies. With Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland, and Cinderella, it was reasonable to expect another classic be remade. As a hardcore Disney fanatic, I had high hopes for the new movie Pan. Let's bear in mind that Peter Pan was one of my many favorites of the long list of favorite Disney films I have. Coming into this, I expected there to be some differences from the original Peter Pan. However, this remake of the movie was completely far off; there was little connection to the original story. The movie starts off with Peter being dropped off at an orphanage by his mother in a World War II in London. He is then taken away by a band of pirates and set of to the famous, magical place, Neverland, with the lead pirate, Blackbeard. Yes he is a pirate, don't be fooled even though his voice resembles a one of a cowboy. Then the story moves on to Peter walking the plank, until he soon discovers he can f ly. Then Blackbeard comes to the realization that he is the so-called "chosen one" of the prophecy that he fears will threaten him; Peter is the one who will bring about his downfall. Peter then sets off with the hopes of finding his mother. When watching the previews and trailers of this film, I will admit I was a bit intrigued by this movie. I mean, it's Disney. However, this rendition of Peter Pan fell f lat. Let's start off with the fact that Captain Hook and Peter Pan become best friends. I will give it that the movie made some attempts to have aspects of the original in there, but it just did not work. What was made apparent in this film was that the plot, and the movie itself, was just all over the place. Some unnecessary scenes here and there made not only myself and the other person I watched this movie with both confused at times. But to cut to the chase, it was quite a bore to watch. However, that friend did bring her little sister, and she thought the movie was entertaining to watch. Despite the excitement I had for the new rendition of the famous Peter Pan, Pan did not deliver to my expectations. I mean, if you're taking your 8 year old sister who has never watched the original film, you might get your money's worth. 'Grease' released on June 1, 1978 directed by Randal Kleiser and is rated PG, PG-13. This app has millions of users all over the world. This app contains material that is only suitable for the ages of 17 and older. For those that are able to view this content there are funny pictures and how-to's. This is a very good time consumer. Someone can spend hours looking through the content this app happens to provide. I have spent hours myself on this app. Mostly I find myself laughing and finding useful information. There are some users who take advantage and use it for the wrong thing. The makers and creators always find these errors. They block inappropriate content and make sure to keep the humor clean but still funny. I have seen great reviews about this app. My other peers say they enjoy this app and also believe it is a good time space taker. There is always new content. This is because the creators depend on the users to upload and create pictures to put on the app. They upload pictures for everyone to see. Because this is a world wide app there are millions of users, and that means millions of chances for new content. There are picture uploaded every minute of everyday. There are also many smaller sections in iFunny. There is the collections section where one would find all the regular posts. There is the features section where the iFunny creators use their opinions to pick the funniest pictures and place them there.A person could also search any topic, such as, Kanye West, and pictures about Kanye West would come up. I greatly enjoyed using iFunny and I still continue to use it. I suggest that anyone that is included in the age limit should at least try this app. There is something for everyone.
