Two weeks ago, Wendell Leonard and Steve Emory picked up the win with 14.04. They also had big bass of the day with a 4.37 largemouth. Second went to Russell Kiser and Buddy Black with 13.05. Roger Hamrick and Neal Jones claimed third with 11.84. J R Garland and Ronnie Beason had 11.63 to get fourth and fifth went to Arnold Ledford with 9.30. Last week, Chet and Cameron Beam won with 11.51, they also picked up big bass honors with a 3.10 largemouth. Walt Brysick and Shane Briggs had 10.61 and took second. J R Garland and Ronnie Beason had 10.10 which was good enough for third and Russell Kiser and Brian Moody claimed fourth with 9.84. Gary Scarborough and John Grellman settled in fifth with 9.40. Events will continue on Saturdays thru the month of April or until water levels allow safer boating at night. Kosa The retirees have also fished twice since I last reported. The first event was on Lake Wylie, Larry Melton and James Osborne got the win with 13.3, they anchored that catch with a 3.7 largemouth to claim big fish honors. J R Garland and Rick Miers had 12.8 and took second, with George Crosswhite and Ray Hembree getting third with 12.1. On Lake Norman last week, John Black and Roger McNeely claimed the win with 11.4 and they were followed by Larry Melton and James Osborne with 10.4. Fred Wright and Dean Champion landed in third with 7.6. This week it is back to Lake Wylie. CCBC The Cleveland County Bass Club fished on Fishing Creek for the April event, Jeremy Boulding had 15.26 and easily won. He also had big bass with a 4.54 largemouth. Roger Beaver had 12.82 and was second, then it was a family affair as Jimmy Melton, Larry Melton and Tammy Melton all finished third thru fifth with 10.76, 10.62 and 9.78 respectively. The Top Ten Championship will be fished April 25 on Lake Greenwood. If anyone has any suggestions on stories or pictures of their catch or kill, you can e-mail me at brucencracefancamp@ gmail.com. TITLE THE E-MAIL STORY OR PICTURE "FOR SHOPPER" OR I WILL ASSUME IT'S JUNK MAIL AND NOT OPEN IT. Bruc Mo Moss ss L k ak ake B OUTDOOR TRUTHS There's something about "bringing home the bacon" or as in my case, the turkey. I came in from our opening day hunt with bird in hand. I stalked it, shot it, hauled it home, cleaned it, and hand- ed it to my wife knowing that I had provided Sunday dinner for the next day. I honestly felt like I had touched the "hunter" part of man's makeup. I felt like I had fulfi lled one of my purposes as the male gender of the homo-sapien species. Now as long as Food City was close I knew we wouldn't starve but it just seemed fi tting for me to take the role as "hunter" in the hunter/ gatherer relationship between the male and female. You know, men are hunters and women are gatherers. Let me explain. My wife gives me a list of 2 or 3 things to pick up at the gro- cery store. On that list is toilet paper. It sounds easy enough, but let me show you the difference in the sexes. I go to aisle 12, fi nd the extra fl uffy Charmin bathroom tissue, load it into my cart and go home. Here's how I (man/hunter) did it. I was given the prey to locate (bathroom tissue). I hunted it down (aisle 12). I picked the trophy (extra fl uffy). I killed it (bare hands). I loaded it's carcass into my truck (I put the tissue into the cart). Now this seemed like such a simple task but how different it is from the woman/gatherer side of things. My wife has the same list. She knows that the toilet paper is in aisle 12, so she easies over to aisle 12, going through aisles 9, 10, and 11 fi rst. After arriving she sees all of the brands and styles. Immediately she begins to calculate. She compares the number of sheets in each roll, the amount of plies per sheet, and the number of rolls in each package. She measures, weighs, and fi gures. Then, before she makes her decision, she wonders if the other store may have it even cheaper. Then after GATHERING all of this needless (did I say that) informa- tion, she decides on the Cottonelle. And that's the difference in the hunter and gatherer. I'm not sure why God made men and women so different. He must have a real sense of humor. But no matter how much we are different we all have an important purpose in life; not just as a man or woman but as individuals. And there's no bet- ter feeling than doing what we were made to do.
