'The Nerd' play to be Contributed 'Crazy 'Bout Patsy' actress Sherrill Douglas. staged at SUNY Delhi The SUNY Delhi College Players will present "The Nerd" at 7 p.m. Nov. 9, 10, 11 and 12 in The Okun Theatre. The 1979 comedy by Larry Shue tells the story of Wil- lum Cubbert, a young architect in Terre Haute Indiana, his friends Tansy McGinnis and Axel Hammond, and a surprise houseguest named Rick Steadman, who saved Willum's life in Vietnam. Because he was unconscious at the time, Willum never met Rick, but in letters exchanged over the years, Willum promised Rick that if he ever needed anything, Willum would be there for him. And so, one November evening when Rick is hosting an important din- ner party for his boss, Rick shows up unexpectedly and the whole evening turns topsy-turvy, but that's just the beginning of Willum's troubles.
