C'town association Contributed Mothers of Intention Rock tribute bands to play theater Pink Floyd tribute band Childhood's End and Oneonta's Mothers of Intention will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Oneonta Theatre. Childhood's End uses a circular video screen and high tech lights with their renditions of Pink Floyd songs. The Mothers of Intention is a SUNY-Oneonta-based band holiday show to open The Cooperstown Art Association's Holiday Member Show will have a public opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11. The event will feature a performance at 6 p.m. by Ah Coopella, a group of local singers. On display through Dec. 23, work in the show is geared toward holiday gift giving and includes cards, ornaments, glass, sculpture, jewelry, apparel, wood work, paintings, prints, stained glass, photos, fiber arts, toys, furniture, pottery and more. The CAA is at 22 Main St. in Cooperstown diagonally across the street from the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Catskill Valley Wind to give fall concert The Catskill Valley Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Scott Rabeler, will present its fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in the First United Methodist Church, at the corner of Chestnut and Church streets in Oneonta. Presenters said that the program will feature melodies from several cultures and traditions. Included are Tchaikovsky's "Ca- priccio Italien," Alfred Reed's "Armenian Dances (Part I)," and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "English Folk Song Suite." Also on the program are several American works: two John Philip Sou- sa marches, Mark Camphouse's "Yosemite Autumn," Samuel Hazo's "Ride," a selection of tunes from the Broadway musical "Wicked," and others. Founded in 2001 by Thomas S. Murphy, the ensemble is a group of 40 experienced wind musicians, many of them music teachers, who enjoy rehearsing and performing the great works for concert band. In addition to its fall and spring concerts, the ensemble engages in outreach activities with local schools and colleges. Scott Rabeler has led the group since 2002. The concert is free and open to the public, with donations accepted. The open jams are designed for bands who want to "stretch their legs," according to a media release. To reserve a 45-minute set at the jam, bands can email bands@oneontatheatre.com.
