GSCT "Moonlight & Magnolias" Comedy Greater Shelby Community Theatre will present the comedy "Moonlight & Magnolias", a hilarious comedy, loosely based on the truth of the iconic movie, "Gone With the Wind". The comedy is based on the rewrite of the movie script by producer David Selznick, screenwriter Ben Hecht and director Victor Fleming. Locked in an office for 5 days, and surviving on a diet of pea- nuts and bananas, hilarity ensues as the three men act out all the major GWTW roles in order to produce an award-winning script for this well- known movie. "Moonlight and Magnolias" will be presented Oct. 21, and 22 at 7:30pm and 23 at 2:30pm. All performances will be in the Keeter Auditorium at CCC. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors. Fall Festival Returns To Uptown Shelby The Fall Festival is coming to uptown Shelby, Saturday, October 22. Kids come in costume and paint a pumpkin, enjoy fun activities and fall crafts, play on the inflatable obstacle course, and parade all around the court square in your costume. Parents- Ident-A-Kid and Safe Kids Cleveland County will be there to teach your kids about safety and have your child's I.D. made. And don't forget balloon animals and pin the tail on the pig. Shelby Lions Club To Sell Brooms The Shelby Lions Club will have a booth at Livermush Expo on Saturday, October 22, uptown Shelby. They will be selling brooms, water, and soft drinks. They will hand out eye donor cards and cards with information concerning how to contact Social Services. Global Service Action campaign. Fay Gardner-Bess Hoey Breakfast The public is invited to purchase tickets and attend the Fay Gardner-Bess Hoey Breakfast to be held at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at North Lake Country Club at 1200 N. Washington St. in Shelby, N. C. The event is sponsored by the Cleveland County Democratic Women organization. Identify 10 common trees and learn why leaves change colors as the trees prepare for fall and winter. The Taste of the Holidays crawl will be Thursday, November 3rd, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. Customers taking part in the event can purchase a passport to enjoy sample featured menu items at our fi ne uptown eateries and spe- cial discounts at participating shops and restaurants. Patrons may buy a passport for the crawl for $5.00 in advance or $10.00 on the night of the event. Visit a restaurant and sample a complimentary dish, and the holder will get their passport punched. Likewise at par- ticipating merchants, customers can visit, get their passport punched and take advantage of special discounts or offerings. Those who get all the punches will be entered in a special drawing for a grand Uptown gift basket.
