By: Evangelist W.C. “Dub” Dellinger - Age 93 When a living God came forth and preached, many were taken by sur- prise. You see, they were worshiping mountains and some worshiped animals. They knew nothing about a Spirit that could be felt themselves. Everything was taught to help in time of need. God sprang forth and TRUTH appeared to be spoken. Things begin to happen that man could see. The word Truth begin to back up every word that was spoken. When a man wit- nessed about something He said, it was TRUTH that did it. One day, at a place called Antioch, because Jesus was a man and a good Spirit was mov- ing, they felt the Spirit, and acted. They were act- ing like Christ and some- one started the word Christian. For that to be true, you have got to be reborn, fall away from sin and come to the arms of your Saviour, Jesus, the Christ of the redeemed. Part of the North Carolina Triathlon Series (NCTS), this award winning triathlon will bring in over 500 triathletes and their families to Kings Mountain. The race consists of a 1 miles swim, point to point, at Moss Lake: a 30 mile bike portion through 4 coun- ties and two states and, finishes with the run portion on the downtown streets in Kings Mountain. Ranked #1 Olympic length by the readers of Endurance magazine and rated #1 bike portion, #2 swim portion and #14 in the run portion by NCTS members. “The run portion has been our weakest link and we have redesigned that portion to make this one of the very best triathlons in our region.”, stated Ellis Noell, Director of Public Relations/Special Events for the City, who serves as the race director. In the past, the foot race had been an out-and-back from Patriots Park to Kings Mountain High School for two laps. “This year it is just a one lap out-and-back to the high school and we take the runners through the tree lined streets of one of our beautiful neighbor- hoods.”, added Noell. One of the largest one day sporting events in Cleveland County, the Over the Mountain utilizes close to 200 volun- teers from the swim start to the finish. “We can never have too many volunteers. Safety is paramount and the more volunteers, whether on the water at Moss Lake, on the bike or run portions or helping with timing, the better. We want as many eyes on these triathletes as possible.”, said Noell. Registration is still open and more information is avail- able at www.setupevents.com. Volunteers are encouraged to contact City Hall, 704-734-0333. Event sponsors include the Kings Mountain Hospital, Patriot Jack’s, the Center Street Smokehouse & Tavern, and the Star.
