Phone 704-865-1561 www.wpintergroup.org The Sparks – Hosting Girls Basketball The sparks is looking for girls 14 and under, who wants to play basketball, but can afford to pay the expensive fee. There will be a uniform fee of $75; all parents will have to help out with the fundraiser activities, so everyone can play in the games. We are hosting a girl’s team and camp which will be held every Saturday at 8 am until the end of the summer. For more information, please call 980-229-1800. There’s no charge for camp. Boys & Girls Club Summer Day Camp Enrollment for the 2011 Boys & Girls Club Jack Schweppe Summer Day Camp is now open. Registration is weekdays from 2 PM to 7 PM. at the Boys & Girls Club building, located at 412 West Sumter Street, directly behind Shelby Middle School in Shelby. Parent Packets containing all materials and program information, are available during the Club’s regular After-School program hours. Registration is ongoing, space permit- ting, first come-first served. Financial Assistance is available with regular Day Camp session fees based on a sliding scale according to income. Details on fees are available through the Boys & Girls Club office. The 2011 Summer Day Camp schedule offers three sessions, each three weeks. Session 1 is Monday, June 13 through Friday, July 1. Session 2 is Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 22. Session 3 is Monday, July 25 through Friday, August 12. Day Camp is open weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:30 in the evening with the program schedule varying daily. Campers participate in struc- tured daily Club activities and are placed with children of like age. Younger camper groups are coed. Older campers are separated by gender. Day Camp is open to all boys and girls, rising first graders through age 14. Older campers may be registered with restrictions. Parents wishing to register these campers should contact the Club office for additional details. Disabled American Veterans Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 18. Regular Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at 1138 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC. On the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 9:00 - 11:00 am, we will open ot assist Veterans and answer questions. Free coffee and donuts served. The DAV Transportation Network provides transportation to and from the Asheville Veterans Medical Center in Oteen, NC for all scheduled appointments; for veterans with no other form or means of transportation.
