There will be several events during the Spring and Fall of the year. The cost will continue to be $5 per parking space with a maximum of 3 spaces available per vendor. The first Parking Lot Flea Market will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. All interested vendors should contact Lisa Abernethy at the Council on Aging/Senior Center, by phone (704-482-3488) or email: labernethy@agingcouncil.org. Parking spaces go quickly so don’t delay in reserving yours – the reservation deadline is May 20, 2011. Want to get wee playing Wii? Drop by the Neal Senior Center (Twisted Spoon) from 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings or 1:00-4:00 on Wednesday after- noons and start playing Nintendo Wii. Everyone is invited to attend. Please bring your favorite dish and join in all the fun. If you are not a cook, feel free to contribute by bringing something purchased at the grocery store or local restaurant. To reserve a seat and attend the luncheon, please contact the Senior Center (704-482-3488) by May 25th. Operation Cool-Off The Council on Aging/Senior Center (100 T.R. Harris Drive) has fans to give away during the hot summer months for senior adults, age 60 or above and in need that live in Cleveland County. Hot weather is dangerous for older adults and anyone with heart disease, diabetes, or a history of stroke. Please call the Council on Aging at 704-482-3488 if you are in need of a box fan. Beginning in May the Senior Center will present a series of consumer protections videos compiled by the US Postal Inspection Service team. The first two videos to be presented will be “Fake Check Scams” and “Internet Fraud.” These videos will be shown on May 31, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Come join us for this video series and learn how to better spot scams and fraudulent activity as well as how to better protect yourself from such situations.
