Proceeds from the sale go to benefit the Shriners Children’s Hospital. By the plate, by the whole butt, or even a sandwich, the crowds lined up to get a taste of the traditional smoked pork. Three hundred pork butts were barbecued cut and ground and offered with slaw, and chips. The event was located next to the American Legion in Kings Mountain. Club President John Murphy said he could not thank the Shrine members and volunteers enough for their dedicated work. “We’ve got a terrific bunch”, he said. –M. A.
