Coming Events Jennie Williams Blues Band to play Autumn The Jennie Williams Blues Zach Bender Tio Schluter IV fronts Oneonta metal band Two Step Sally, which will perform with other metal bands Thursday at West End Billiards at 340 Chestnut St. in Oneonta. Two Step Sally frontman is a head-banging cowboy In shredded flannel garments during SUNY Oneonta’s Battle of the Bands last week, Oneonta heavy metal band with a cowboy theme, Two Step Sally, wrangled the rowdy audience. Every gnash of the guitars, every hellish command screamed, every collective gallop of the bass and drums eased into a mosh pit corral. Lead singer Tio Schluter IV stood like a lone ranger when all the guitar-gnashing gunsmoke cleared. Tio, 23, joined the head-banging cowboys as a fill-in until the band could find a permanent vocalist. By a mixture of social elements, fate and the sheer will of the late John Wayne, Tio was set in as a full-time screamer. Two Step Sally is notorious for performing in their flannel shirts and the occasional bandanna or two since October of 2009. “This is a good town to come from,” Schluter said. “The bars downtown are a great place to play; everyone’s always down to see a live show. That’s what I love about it.” Two Step Sally has only performed in Oneonta, but the group is looking to spread their wild notes elsewhere. “We have plans to eventually branch out, but it’s really not about that … we of course em- brace Oneonta because this is who we are ... and, you know, we love it here.” After a recent switch-up, the band’s line-up has stabilized with Geoff Doyle and Luke Nord- burg wielding the six-shooters (lead guitar and guitar, respectively), and Luke Harvis and Cal Moubray as horse masters (bass and drums, respectively). This switch has delayed the release of the group’s tentatively scheduled demo, however, a full-length release has been scheduled for release early this fall. Two Step Sally isn’t too concerned about the big time though. “We’re just here to have fun, and we’ve been doing that,” Schluter said. Two Step Sally will be performing its first full set with the new line up at a show at Billiard’s at 340 Chestnut St. at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Betrayed By Fate, Trippin on Sunday, Altered Mental Status, Six Gun Pacifist and Contraband will also play the show, which has a $5 cover. _ Zach Bender 20 O-Town Scene March 31, 2011 band will play its blues, jazz and funk Saturday at 10 p.m. at the Autumn Cafe at 244 Main St. in Oneonta.
