Continued from Page 12 Bagels with a variety of toppings, muffins and croissants are popular food choices, as are soups and sandwiches. The tarragon chicken salad and curry chicken salad are tasty specialty options. Although the atmosphere is leisurely, the service is speedy. Zummo and Paulino run a tight operation that seems effortless on the surface. Even though those cool baristas always seem to be smiling, they’re also always working, wiping down tables or putting a tray of bagels in the oven when there’s a lull in the line. Latte Lounge opened in December 2003, and has undergone tweaks to make it what it is today. I’ve been a regular since I moved back to Oneonta two years ago, and have enjoyed the opening up of the back section, the addition of gelato during the warmer months and the sliding barn door that opens to the Green Toad Book- store (the door was in place before I moved to Oneonta). I’ve met a lot of people at the cafe, and have dozens of “Latte Lounge friends” _ some of whom have become simply “friends.” It’s a meeting place for everyone _ sorority girls in sweats and heels going over details from Saturday night as well as community leaders like Mayor Dick Miller going over details from the Oneonta Police Department.
