SUCO to host Coming Events OH Fest 6 lineup to include Pitbull Hartwick and SUNY Oneonta student lead- ers have said rapper Pitbull will headline OH Fest 6 on April 30. OH Fest will include a Main Street Oneonta carnival from 1 to 5 p.m., bring street performers, games, inflat- able rides, arts and crafts vendors, food, bands from the two school and more. The concert portion of the event will be a Neahwa Park and will start with the winner of a College Battle of the Bands competition opening OH Fest on the main stage. Following that group will be Who’s Bad. The group has played more than 700 shows in numerous countries and now boasts the title of “Ultimate Mi- chael Jackson Tribute Band.” The group’s live performances pull from hours of Jackson’s catalogue and spans four decades of his career. From “ABC” to “You Rock My World,” no song is forgotten. It’s the longest-running Jackson tribute band. Pitbull will close the group for females ages 15 to 21. There will be an open house from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday at 387 Chestnut St. in Oneonta. Refreshments will be provided. The group’s purpose is the provide young women in the area with a safe and healthy environment where they can interact with their peers and have a positive experience. The group will offer life-skills training, as- sistance with future planning and a social support system where young women can feel free to ask questions about whatever they may be experiencing. His first recorded performance was on Lil Jon’s 2002 album “King of Crunk.” He release his debut album, “M.I.A.M.I.” (“Money Is A Major Issue”), in 2004. Since then, the performer has released three other albums, “El Marie” in 2006, “The Boatlift” in 2007 and “Pitbull Starring in Rebelution” in 2009. “Rebelation” included singles “Blanco,” featuring Pharrell Williams and “Hotel Room Service,” which hit No. 9 on the Hot 100. Women’s group to hold open house LIFE House — a program that provides ser- vices to runaway, homeless and at-risk youth in Otsego County — is developing a girls for Wed. SUNY Oneonta will host its eighth annual All Women’s Poetry Slam at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Center for Multicultural Experiences in Lee Hall. The annual slam is in honor of National Women’s History Month. Everyone is welcome to attend, but all poetry must carry themes that empower women. Featured poet will be Sierra DeMulder. In 2009, she won the Best Female Poet award at the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational and ranked ninth in the world in the Indi- vidual World Poetry Slam in Berkeley, Calif. DeMulder published her first full-length book, “The Bones Below,” in January 2010. Comedy trio to perform in Andes Check out a night comedy starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Andes Hotel, 110 Main St. in Andes. See Irish comedienne Joanne Genelle, joined by Brad Todd and Rick Allen. There’s a $10 cover charge for the show. For more info, call (845) 676-4408 or go to www.andeshotel. com. ‘Marriage’ SUNY Oneonta’s Goodrich Theater will host Wolfgang Ama- deus Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” next week. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, as well as at 2 p.m. Saturday. The opera will be done with an English libretto. The four-act, 18th-century opera is a continuation of “The Barber of Seville.” Barber Figaro helped Count Almaviva win the heart of Rosine, who was engaged to Dr. Bartolo. In “The Marriage of Figaro,” Figaro, who has become the count’s servant, is engaged to Countess Rosine’s maid, Susanne. Meanwhile, Bartolo intends to seek revenge on Figaro as Rosine deals with her marital issues. Almaviva secretly tries to woo Susanna and manipulates the postponement of her and Figaro’s wedding. The show is directed by John McCaslin- Doyle, conducted by Timothy Newton and produced by the SUNY Oneonta Theatre Department, the Mask and Hammer Theatre Club, the SUNY Oneonta Music Department and the Apollo Music Club. Air Force quintet to play Hartwick New England Winds, members of the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty, will play at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Anderson Theatre of the Anderson Center for the Arts on the Hartwick College campus. The show is free and open to the public. The group has been recognized by audiences throughout the Northeast for its pas- sionate and refined per- formances. It features a challenging repertoire, with music from the Baroque era to newly commissioned pieces. New England Winds Perform- ing at events from small stage recitals to the Inter- national Double Reed Conven- tion, the Winds’ versatil- ity and ability to interact with listeners on an intimate level has left audiences with memories of compelling and expressive music-making. Auditions set for Open Eye show Auditions for The Open Eye Theater’s upcoming play “Pepacton” will be at 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday the theater, 960 Main St. in Margaretville. Six adults and four young people are needed for the new multimedia play about 19th and early 20th century naturalist John Burroughs, born in Roxbury. Burroughs wrote 27 books on nature and a few on personali- ties of the day, including poet Walt Whitman. He was one of the most- read authors in America at the turn of the century. “Pepacton” will be per- formed April 7 and for two weekends through April 17.
