WILLIS Mr. Edward Hoyle Willis, 85, of Shelby, NC passed away Friday, December 17, 2010. Services were held at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private. Mr. Willis served our coun- try in the U.S. Army where he fought in World War II, serv- ing 2-1/2 years with the 86th Infantry Division in Europe and the Philippines. He attained the rank of Corporal and was decorated with the American Theatre Service Medal; EAME Service Medal with one bronze service star; and the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Hoyle Willis and Cordie Peeler Willis; 1 brother, Ira Willis; and 2 sisters, Mary W. Crowe and Ora Mae W. Sweatmon. He is survived by his lov- ing wife of 61 years, Margaret Dover Willis; 2 sons, Steven Willis and wife Patricia of Winston-Salem and Dale Wilis and wife Connie of Shelby; 3 grandchildren; 1 brother, J.C.
