The long time duo had 10.50 and outdistanced David O’Shields, who had 8.85. Ronnie Humprhies was a close third with 8.50. Big bass went to Larry Melton with a 3.75 largemouth. This week it is back to Lake Norman for the old and the wise. MOSS Black and Roger McNeill There was two events on Moss Lake last week. The last regular season event on Thursday and the championship on Saturday. On Thursday, 16 boats fished with Randy and Randall Wright getting the win with 10.44. Brian and Cody Hoyle had 9.80 and took second while Mitch Gardner and Stacy Wright settled in third with 7.15. Arnold Ledford and Clayton Wright had 3.76, good for fourth and rounding out the top five was Tom Gavin and Chris Hoopaugh with 3.32. Big bass was a 5.93 largemouth brought in by Gardner and Wright. On Saturday the 23 teams that qualified for the championship took off at 8am. When the scales were put away shortly after 2pm, Brian and Cody Hoyle had the win with 9.83. Reggie and Johnny Guffey took second with 9.10, followed by Randy and Randall Wright with 5.94. Fourth with 5.41 was Richard McAbee and rounding out the top five was Tommy Chapman with 5.29. Big bass was a 3.08 largemouth brought in by Matt Arey and Chet Beam. Second big bass went to the team of Hoyle and Hoyle with a 2.61 largemouth. According to tournament organizer Arnold Ledford, over $3,400 was paid out this year. Fishing will resume sometime in mid March. Bass Casters The Bass Casters club fished Lake Hickory last Sunday with Mark Swink taking the win with 8.7, followed by Randy Scarborough with 7.8. Terry Knight had 5.13 and was third with Mitch McCracken in fourth with 5.8. Rounding out the top five was John Brown with 2.2. Big bass was a 4.14 largemouth brought in by Scarborough. The Bass Casters will finally fish a good lake next month as they head to Stumpy Pond on the 28th. Someone who is just getting into bowhunting, needs to go to a pro shop or club or find an expert friend, to make sure they get a bow fitted to them properly with the right draw length, and a poundage they can pull easily. I see a lot of people at the range and their bow just doesn’t fit them. They’re overstretching or understretching which hinders their shooting ability. After you have been fitted properly, record the measurements that are right for you. Once you get fitted properly, you can buy your next bow at the same draw length and weight, and know it will fit right.
