The yard sale will begin at 7am and sausage biscuits and coffee will be available for purchase. The hotdog lunch will begin at 11am, and can be purchased to go. This year there are many wonderful items including furniture, household items, appliances, clothing and toys. Currently, as many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and millions more are faced with the financial and emotional challenges of caring for a loved one with the disease. We invite the community to come and participate with us as we join together to combat this disease. Sterling House Shelby is located at 1425 East Marion Street. Fundraiser The Shanghai Volunteer Fire Dept. will be having a BBQ Plate Fundraiser & BBQ Butt Sale on Sunday, September 26th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Plates include BBQ, Sauce, Chips, Baked Beans, Slaw, Hushpuppies, Drink and Dessert. All for $9.00 for adults and $5.00 for children, and we will have Butts with Slaw and Sauce for $30.00. All proceeds will be used by the department to purchase equipment necessary to lower your insurance rating. The Salvation Army will take applications Oct. 5, 6, 7 and 8 for its annual Christmas Cheer toy and food distribution. Each year the Salvation Army helps provide Christmas to hundreds of needy residents in the area. Applications can be filled out from 9:15 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. on those days at the Disabled American Veterans building, 890 Withrow Road., Forest City. Historical Museum Exhibit The Kings Mountain Historical Museum is proud to announce the opening of the annual Honor Our Veterans Exhibit on Now – November 13.
